Are you talking about regular? Or VR, vintage prop, etc

 

Unless you are a very good regular who is tight with the beer guy at Binny's, you will not be able to just roll in and ask(most likely), from what I know each store got a case and these will never leave the backroom, only a few select good regulars will get one as well as some employees being able to get one as well. This is one of the reasons I always hook my guy up with out of distro stuff and even some rare stuff on occasion never asking for anything in return. I didn't know about it till he told me and handed me a bottle.

 

They had VR for sure. Friend went in there and asked and they said no and then laughed and talked about what they are going to tell people that ask.

 

Schaumburg had a line right as truck was unloaded. 24 VR sold and prop got held for a "list"

 

Anyone know if the mystery vintage Prop is 14 or 13? I'm not searching or crabby about not getting it but I'm curious if goose island held back any 13 like they seem to have done for 14, VR, etc or if they didn't because they believed it would be better fresh?

Just out of curiosity, anyone know what Binny's was charging for VR?

They had a line? Either truck chasers or this regular list was notified to show up right then and there

 

anyone buy regular at Schaumburg Binnys? last night or today? Called and said they're out...trying to confirm that and save a trip while semi-closeby later on.

 

Regular here, I imagine they are sold out. The truck got there early but didn't get unloaded until after 5pm because there was a line of trucks at the dock. They brought out 2 cases of VR, the line of about 18-20 went through and there were a few bottles left that were put at the service desk. Those probably were gone shortly thereafter as it was not only on this site but someone posted it to a FB group earlier in the day that they were getting it, hence the line.

 

Cool, thanks for the info. Was hoping they might have had a little of regular BCS still hanging around but I'll check elsewhere.

 

Anyone know the closest Binny's to Lake Forest that still has BW?

 

They got the 2nd drop of that last week and stacked it out. People were buying multiple cases of reg and BW. It was gone in two days. They do have a good amount of Rare that they're selling on Monday, as noted in this threat it appears that all Binnys will be dropping more Rare on Monday.

only seen people getting 14 from a few stores but maybe some got 13? havent seen any mentions of 13 until the guy that first responded to your message

as mentioned, someone alerted on facebook as they were unloading the truck and then headed that way.

 

I'm not a huge fan of the whole hold stuff back for regulars thing or lying to people about having limited beers (at least just say it's for regulars only), so I'm just gonna throw this out there because it kinda annoyed me. I went to the BG Binny's to pick up a couple BW and asked if they happened to get in any VR. The employee was totally shifty when I asked, avoided eye contact, and said "No." and a looked at me like I had just said something completely out of line. Thinking the interaction was strange, I was peeking behind the service counter while checking out and saw an unopened Bourboun County box. Not sure what the contents were, but the previous guy had said they only had the BW that was on the shelf behind the counter. Again thinking this was strange, I *67 the store so my area code wouldn't show up. I asked the employee that answered if they got any VR and he said "yeah, I'm pretty sure we did." and then transferred me to their beer guy. When I asked him, he gave me a run around answer of "it is not my policy to to discuss this over the phone" and then on further probing (in a totally polite manner) he said "we don't have any here." Then I asked if the story would be different if I came in and he said, "No, not for that stuff", so I gave up and hung up the phone.

TL/DR; If you are looking for VR there is a good chance it is at Binny's BG, though you may have to perform some sort of satanic ritual or sacrifice a baby lamb or limb to get it haha...

 

I go to this store all the time and I think it's a no win situation. The whole "regular" situation is totally subjective and the poor employees are just doing the best they can to leverage these unique situations to build some loyalty or say thank you to already loyal customers. It's art, not science and they get it wrong sometimes. I've been on both sides of it within the same store and I'm sure it's not unique to them. I'd love to see them institute an official craft beer loyalty program using their exiting Binnys card. Get points you can use to get access to these types of things when they come up. It eliminates truck chasing and gives the employees something concrete to leverage.
