Loved sorta where the thread went. I think off topic discussions that are still oddly on topic are enjoyable to read through even if its a little circular.

That being said, Vallejo my favorite IPA, and has a few months before it's brewed again. Something id truly wait for.

Might have missed it, but what were the opinions on Deep Space?

It was on tap when I was there Tuesday (I had a taste); growler only. It's good from the sip I had, but you may or may not like it, because it's closer to NE-style than a lot of their other stuff (made with Tired Hands' yeast). That and Big Sting were both pretty tasty in my opinion.
Yeah, I like going off-topic as long as the mods are cool with it. Ensures we don't get bored!

I haven't had the latest batch of Deep Space, but from when I had a growler, I think it's very solid. Obviously very similar to Space except amped up, but I think the ampage does it good.

Man, all this of ticket talk.

No one would give a shit about a ticket if was possible to get through the store in a timely fashion.

Does anyone know the cost of a new growler and/or fill at HA? Like ballpark estimates?

The glass is $5. 64oz fills range from $14-20ish. 32oz fills range from $8-11ish. I believe. Tuesday there's a discount for fills.

I want to say when I was there I didn't see anything for more than $20 ish. But that's a vague estimate at best.

HA will also fill other breweries growlers FYI.

This is true, as long as the type of growler is allowed (and even that can depend on a person). I've brought my Hill Farmstead howlers/growlers and have been both turned down and filled on many occasions. The cool part is the last time I was there, they didn't want to fill my HF howler... So they just gave me one of theirs for free. Half-Acre is full of cool people that work there. Never had a bad experience.

This is how I feel about all my experiences going to breweries/brew pubs. One thing I like most about the whole craft beer experience is that it's full of cool people who share a passion for beer.

Doesn't HF use 750ml and 2L containers? That would make sense that HA would turn people away from refills if they have 25 oz or 67 oz containers rather than the 32oz or 64oz that HA uses....

I could see them wanting to fill them too though. You save 7oz on the 750's and only lose 3oz on the big ones.

Looks like HA has a hazy IPA on tap. Animal Law is listed on their website and I saw this pic

Can't see the pic, but that would make 3 (I think). Big Sting and Fog Bowl are decently hazy as well.

Well, I do need to find SOMEWHERE to have lunch tomorrow.

Who am I kidding...the amount of s**t I have to do before the holidays is insane, and I'll end up eating a tuna sandwich with Sprite at home. :grimacing: Mind you, that's after I've scoured all my local stores to see if they have vintage BCBS variants. :grinning::astonished:

I'm going to head up today around 3 to try Animal Law and Fog Bowl. I had Big Sting last weekend and enjoyed it.

You're right on the sizes of the HF grolwer/howler, but that wasn't the reason given for why they wouldn't fill them. It was something to do with city codes (can't remember the specifics). I'll ask next time I'm in there.

Odds are it's a misinterpretation of TTB laws with regards to labeling.

Lot of breweries consider a growler to fall under the package category, which requires the brewery name and label.. TTB considers growlers to be, essentially, a "large glass" so it doesn't really matter..

Some folks want the CYA though, so they'll only fill their own stuff.

Half Acre probably doesn't want to fill HF growlers because they are scared whoever drinks it may think that swill coming out of Vermont is good.

Or they just want and extra 5 bucks from their customers and use that logic as a crutch.
