Normally when I go to Binny's, I go to the beer section, pick up a few things, and check out. There wouldn't even be an occasion to be talking to the "beer guy," (nor would I immediately know who he is). The way Binny's often is, it would be like trying to chat up folks at Wal-Mart.

I thought pappy 23 year old barrels were Rare? Especially 6 years ago.

Is the Binny's price $59.99 for Rare or did I just make that up? Feel like I saw that price in this thread earlier. Also, I know it's probably difficult to say because amounts released vary, but based on prior years do you need to line up early to get a bottle typically? Assuming so given the line talk, but I'm just wondering if those are folks who really want to be guaranteed their bottles.

$69.99 based on the email they just sent.

At this point nothing really surprises me when it comes to Chicago and beer but the amount of people willing to pay that much money for 16.9oz of beer is astonishing.

See lots of reports of emails about the Monday drop. They must only send emails to customers who have a Chicago address I'm guessing? I got none of these emails, and I get plenty of emails from Binny's.

Could be the location. There's always an employee or 2 walking around the beer Dept asking if u need help. They are quite helpful and willing to chat about stuff. People are just anti social these days and don't speak up.

Check your spam or other folders. I live in Wisconsin and got the email.

Did that. Nothing. Binny's emails always seem to end up in my Inbox, but double checked to be sure. And yes, I have a Binny's card, spend plenty of $, and am in 1-2 times per week. Not complaining, just curious to see the email.

Maybe if you signed up for your binnys card at a non-Chicagoland store, you didn't receive the email. Just a theory....

Thanks for sharing. I never got an email from them either and I get tons of them normally from them.

Strange. Wonder if it has to do with frequency of recent purchases or amount of money spent?

You've never had an employee ask if you needed help looking for something?

Pretty simple. It's a quick "yes" or "no."

Have you ever noticed that there are a lot of people in there dressed in dark red shirts, wearing name tags? Those are the 'beer guys."

I love how in the Binny's ad it says $79.99 in grocery stores, but Binny's price is $69.99.

In other words, Jewel charged you $20 over retail price, we're only charging $10 over retail price.

I'll still be lining up to buy some, I just thought that was funny for some reason.

I was thinking that last night when I read the email. Its a lot better than the 129.99 Jewel was charging on Black Friday.

Retail was 60 bucks a year ago. 10 dollars for one year of storage doesn't seem bad to me. If you don't like the price, complain it was too high a year ago. But don't claim it should be MSRP for something that has been cellared by the manufacturer a year since that MSRP.

I get what you're saying, but in dude's defense, there are plenty of times when I go to Binny's where those dudes will either be busy running back and forth stocking shit, or will be nowhere to be found for extended periods. For example, LP Binny's seems to have their beer guys running around a lot, whereas I have more access to the guys on Clark for idle chat. No complaints either way, just saying there are probably different experiences at different Binny's (hell, and at different times of day).

The limit 2 on Rare is getting my hopes up...
