I purchased a Rare last week for $59.99 and the owner of the liquor store I purchased it from stated that is still the MSRP.

As I already stated I'm planning on purchasing some tomorrow. I just found it amusing that Binny's felt the need to call out Jewel for charging $79.99.

Thanks for posting. I definitely still haven't gotten it, granted I got my account in Champaign, but I do spend a sizable amount of money on beer there. My dad has had his card for longer than me, is in the Chicago area, and didn't get it either.

I wonder if they've just never sent an update in the year since for this particular product. Goose Island sold it direct for $80 at prop day. So Binnys is actually selling it for 10 bucks less than the most recent time you could get it to go directly from the manufacturer. And Binnys for 10 bucks less. Still seems like too much at retail but I'm right here with you- I bought one at 80 bucks at jewel

Never. JK - obviously if you want it, get there when you need to. I'm just amazed people are still so hard up for this. I got 3 bottles last year, and the third was bought hesitantly. I wasn't even here for Black Friday last year either. I don't mean anything bad against those that want a bottle, it just interesting to me.

I've been thinking the same thing all day. I just can't imagine lining up is necessary for this. Limit 2 screams "we have a shit ton" to me and seriously how many people are still out there willing to drop $150 on two bottles of beer that haven't already gotten it on Black Friday this year, last year, at Jewel, etc.

Binny's Grand is terrible. I remember back in 2012 or 2013 stopping by after work because I heard they got Parabola in. I asked one of the beer guys who went in back, came out and said "We do, but you have to be on the list to get one. " I replied "How do I get on the list?" He replied "Ugh, we aren't really doing that anymore." You have to be on a list, but you can't get on a list- so basically he told me to go fuck myself. I hate buying beer at Binny's because of this, the fact they have non-transparent distribution seems extremely shady and I would go as far to claim the employees have become a defacto 4th tier of distribution that probably should be investigated by the Liquor Commission if people are "bribing" them with out of distro beer to land a stuff hidden in back. It is a corrupt practice...I'd encourage anyone going to Binny's and being lied to or given some BS run around to ask for the person's manager and continually escalate to the next persons manager and just be a general dick. Be the 2014 Walgreens guy until the squeaky wheel gets the grease or they get sick of everyone being a-holes and come up with a fairer practice....or just boycott them and take as much of your business as possible to smaller craft beer places like I do....

I feel you. But it's quite easy to speak to people. Approaching someone stocking a shelf and asking a question isn't going to bother them...In fact I'm sure they would rather speak to a fellow beer drinker than stock. Once again. It's people's anti socialistic nature these days. If u don't speak to anyone I'm not sure how one can complain about not being a regular. Regardless of how often you go. Bc that's honestly not what it's about. Man it makes me wonder how many people here are actually a regular at a bar vs frequent a place often.

There are no rules. U met the owner. Great u may or may not be in. The point is standing around not speaking to anyone isn't going to get u anywhere. Going somewhere a lot and not speaking to anyone isn't going to get u anywhere. I think u can see the pattern.

No, I get it, just saying the less you see someone, the less you can talk. I'm a regular at a few different places, but I believe in that happening organically, so I won't stand around waiting in the hopes of finding someone to talk to. All I'm saying is that some people are probably in the same boat.

I agree that you can't be a "regular" as it's meant in this thread if no one knows you exist.

Are people camping out at Binnys for Rare? They open at 9 AM, so how early will people be there?

I would sincerely hope people aren't camping outside for Rare, but I wouldn't be surprised if they did. I assume some of the bigger Binnys are getting a ton of it in.

I'm considering lining up at 4am to guarantee I get a box.

I'm gonna try, but I missed out on '15 Rare last year and this year. Plus I have a friend willing to share the cost. So for me, I figure might as well.

I do not plan to line up. I'm just going to get there close to opening. If no dice, I'm sure I'll find something else to be happy with and go about my day saving a good $50 or so.

Does anyone know if this is going to be '15 Rare only, or are there other things too? The email obviously indicates Rare, and I read all the other posts of vintages happening last week. Just wasn't sure...

I think it's a snipe hunt. I'm waiting outside Binny's now and no one else is here.

Your rant, sir, is quite possibly one of the most ridiculous and irresponsible posts I've read on this website in a long time. To suggest to other BAs they should be placing hardworking binny's floor personnel's livelihoods at risk because you feel cheated out of some rare beer is disgusting. You, sir, are just a general dick.

Agreed... I'm at Naperville and always wanted to get some Rare, but never waited early enough on Black Friday. Hope they have some others available... good luck!
