Hey all, my sister lives in the northern burbs of Chicago, in Highwood. Any idea where I can tell her to go to score me some regular BCBS? I called Binny's Highland Park which is the closest one to her, and they don't have any.

Finding BCBS is going to be tough at this point...you'll probably have to settle for some Rare...

    Keep calling
I would focus on calling the top 2-3 closest Binny's locations and odds are one will have some. Now, considering your location, hou may need to drive a bit more but....as always....it comes down to how badly does your sister want to score you some? :sunglasses:

Well to be fair, grocery stores may have had to purchase from the distributor at a higher price. Channel pricing is legal in Illinois.

The only thing rare about rare is finding a rare tapping of rare

With all the people infusing BCBS to make variants, has anyone successfully duplicated the taste of Rare using Regular and spirits?

Binny's Grand had about a case and a half of Rare remaining on the floor as of 20 minutes ago.

I drank my one bottle of coffee on Christmas and was a bit let down by it. I know this was tough to land this year but it didn't do it for me the way it has in years past. I have to say my favorite this year is regular by a fairly healthy margin, good thing I locked down a good amount of it.

So when is the last time people got in line for a special "beer release" at Target? Give me a break gang, it's all smoke, mirrors and marketing bs!

It's just kind of surreal seeing stacks and stacks of a BCBS variant, and it's not 2010.

Its funny. Everyone loves to reminisce about the time when bcbs stuck around for weeks or months at a time 5+ years ago. Now this year we have seen (post initial black Friday drop) bcbs/bw stick around for a week and now RARE. Even though rare probabaly won't make it past a week, it is not selling out right away.

Lets take a moment to reflect on the fact that we have spent 50 pages talking about our overlords at AB-inbev and how effective their marketing has become.

I dunno if I'd call it smoke and mirrors, given that we all know there's lots of Rare out there. :stuck_out_tongue:
Hell yes, it's a great thing. We all bitch about how impossible it is to find our favorite beers because everyone else is trying to get them as well, and now we're having the opposite discussion about BCS.

To be fair, when it was hanging around 5+ years ago it was at prices that were much much lower than what Rare is sitting around at right now. While regular BCBS is still comparatively cheap, it did used to be much cheaper even a few years ago (have I mentioned I hate the new bottle format enough yet??).

Rare was $42.99, and that seemed ridiculous back then. http://chicago.eater.com/2010/11/29/6708627/goose-island-sells-1400-bottles-of-bcs-rare-in-2-hours

Naperville Binnys has 6 cases sitting on floor... I really wish I could buy 2 bottles, but the price tag scares me away.

I'm the same way; I don't need 2 bottles of $60 or $70 beer...but I also know that I'll be kicking myself in a year or two when my first bottle is a distant memory!

Oh who am I kidding, they're clearly selling Rare every year until the end of time.

Don't sweat it. I drank mine when the Cubs won the WS but kept the crate. Now I just pretend I still have the bottle of beer too inside of it.
