Good morning BAs! Getting started as usual before Mrs. Lizard gets up. We spent most of yesterday cleaning and rearranging the hall linen closet - I can actually find stuff in there now. And we generated two bags of old linen to haul to the local animal shelter.

A little light on the smoke but otherwise a decent alt.

Good morning BA, have a good hump day! Still enjoying my holiday week off. I ended up finding out Origin is having a holiday sale, so I purchesed Battlefield 4 yesterday, and it has been downloading all night. The full game is installed now, but some of the expansion packs are still downloading at the moment. Definitely going to play some single player campagin this morning.

Amazing as always. Flavors of pineapple, grapefruit, tangerine, peach, lemon/orange zest, citrus rind, light mango, and pine hops; with wheat, bread, light honeyed malt balance; and herbal, floral, grassy hop earthiness. Light-moderate pine, grassy, spicy bitterness. Medium bodied; balanced grainy malt creaminess and hop stickiness in the mouthfeel. Lightly resinous, with increasing bitter dryness; never astringent. I always forget how much I love this beer, I need to get it more often. Really well balanced IPA, classic Willamette and C hop flavors.


Incredible batch this year. Flavors of milk/dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, cinnamon, vanilla, cream, nutmeg, chile pepper, caramel, brown sugar, toffee, and toasted brown bread. Light roast/spice bitterness on the finish. Medium-full bodied; great creamy/silky mouthfeel, with some light sticky/chalky roast/spice notes as well. Lightly drying. Zero pepper heat. Balance is pretty much perfect between spices and stout flavors. Made sure to grab 2 6 packs this year. Still a few out there on the shelf, so I might grab another to hold me over till next year.


Still working through my gift 6-pack. Great DIPA. Flavors of peach, pineapple, apricot, mango, melon, papaya, tangerine, citrus peel, light pepper, and pine hops; with moderate honey, lightly toasted bread malt sweetness; and herbal, floral, grassy hop earthiness. Moderate pine/rind/spicy bitterness on the finish. Medium-plus bodied; balanced grainy malt creaminess and sticky/resinous hops in the mouthfeel. Increasingly drying and resinous; touch of hop astringency. Very drinkable, lightly warming ABV. Great tropical hop vibrancy and malt balance; while still remaining nicely drying. I am definitely a fan of the hop, very unique. Still haven't used it myself in homebrew, but maybe soon.


This year's batch is insane! Flavors of big dark roasted coffee, dark chocolate, cocoa, molasses, vanilla, toffee, bourbon, toasted oak, caramel, and light nutty maltiness. Perfectly balanced bittersweet roast, with some tannic bourbon/oak spiciness on the finish. Very creamy/silky full body; with a bit of chalky roast and lightly increasing tannic oak dryness on the finish. Lightly warming ABV, minimal barrel booziness. Pretty much perfectly balanced between coffee, malt, and barrel character. This year's batch is one of the best they have ever made(from what I have had). Reminds me of when I had my first KBS around 5-6 years ago.

Magic Rock: Highwire Grapefruit

I used to think this beer was the business. It's still good but after having BP: Grapefruit Sculpin its no longer as good as I thought!

 

Starting off the morning with Hopsoon from the crowler.

 

Great idea on the linens to the animal shelter. I am adding one more stop to my honey-do list for the day. We have three bags in the garage. Thanks!
