Great to hear this! That first batch ever was basically perfection. Second batch, holy fucking hot! But it surprisingly kept an incredible flavor and wasn't hot just to be hot. If it consistently landed somewhere at or slightly above the heat of the first batch, we would be insanely spoiled.

Love the cinnamon in Oro. I didn't know the depths of experimentation with Oro. It's cool to see. Looking forward to future iterations.

I agree on the heat. It was not subtle at all, but never overbearing and I thought it played off of the cinnamon well. I haven't tried this batch yet because I still have 3 bottles from the last, but I wouldn't want to see the cinnamon notes diminish any. The thing about Oro that is so great is that you can distinctly taste every aspect yet it manages to achieve such an incredible balance with everything that's going on.

I can't imagine trying to brew a consistent result with peppers. From everything I have ever consumed there is so much variance. I grew jalapeƱos a few years ago that were 5 times hotter than the chilis, and several habaneros, I planted in the same spot. For what it's worth, I thought the first 2 releases were very close with the cinnamon a hair stronger in the first. I loved it, but I am biased toward cinnamon (and maple, and vanilla, and bacon...) It is one of those ingredients that can become overwhelming for many people easily though. See Christmas Ales:slight_smile:

How many batches have there been? The only time I had it was late spring/early summer of this year and I thought it was pretty heavy on the cinnamon.

I also got zero cinnamon and zero heat in this batch of Oro. Makes sense after reading Brad's reasons. Now I'm really looking forward to the next batch to see how it evolves. I have a better appreciation for the craft here and wish other brewers or breweries did the same when it came to their recipes for their beers.

I'm not going to name other breweries that have put out different beers under the same name, but a simple explanation somewhere goes a long way.

Thanks, Brad. Love what you guys are doing!

I know Jackie O's has to brew for its target audience, and I'm sure I'll enjoy every iteration of this beer, but count me as one of the cinnamon fans. I wasn't lucky enough to have batch 1, but absolutely loved batch 2. I'll try to get batch 3 for comparison also, but I can't wait to try the cinnamon level on batch 4.

I think it's not the cinnamon so much for me as the peppers... or maybe how well they were combined. But for comparison sake, I didn't like Abraxas. That was a cinnamon bomb, in an unfortunate way.

I had WYH on nuts yesterday. Now I hate BA beers and ordered a sample of this by mistake. It blew my mind. Obviously some came home with me. I think I hated BA beers because I never had a good before. You get what you pay for. Jackie O's kills. BTW - Mystic Mama is THE most underrated IPA out there.

I've been waiting patiently to try dark apparition nuts for over a year now. Looks like I finally get my shot at the anniversary party. So pumped!

    Different Blend

1st version had Cognac Dark app in it which I'm assuming won't be in this blend due to the nature of the barrels

From the horses mouth. Spirit Beast blend:

"5 different imperial stout components and a bit of Belgian Quad. All bourbon barrel aged"

"Dark app, 0il, oro, champ (no coffee), and a collab"

I'm guessing they meant 4 imperials but I'm stoked either way for 17'.

If anyone can get a snap of the back of the bottle once they get one and post it here that'd be cool.

As someone who wasn't around for last year, how does the anny party go? is there a line for beer at open? Does it typically sell out the first day? I have a buddy who lives in athens and I'm planning to come see him this weekend. I'd like to know what I'm in for.
