It may be producing a lower rate, but not what CCB advertised.

They could just be breaking down the 12 bottle tickets to 4 and 8 bottle tickets options if people aren't buying up the much pricier case option

this is actually a bit concerning IMO. Last year was great overall, but if they break up the 12 bottle tickets and there are a few hundred more people it may be a bit overcrowded. Hopefully breaking the tickets up doesn't increase the overall attendance by much.

I'm flying down from the Northeast for Huna Day. This'll be my first time attending this event and I can't wait. This leads me to kind of a weird question for you guy's. I'm thinking of purchasing a 8 bottle wine carrier to bring my beer home instead of using a bottle shipper or my luggage. I'm just not sure if they'll fit since beer bottle sizes seem to be less standardized than wine bottles. Would anyone be able tell me if the Hunahpu bottle is wider than the bottle used by The Bruery? Or even better, could someone measure a bottle? I'm looking for the width of the bottle at its widest point (in inches or millimeters).

This is carrier I'm looking at if your interested.

    Whoa! That's pricey!

Huna bottles are similar to the Bruery 750s in size.

Just curious though why you would purchase this as opposed to using a styro shipper? Unless you travel a lot and you will use this multiple times a year this seems pretty pricey if you only use two to three times a year. Bonus more money to spend on beer if you use a styro shipper!

Me and a bunch of people I know use this: https://www.amazon.com/gp/offer-listing/B00STVDHJ8 and its absolutely perfect for traveling with beer. 12 750's should come in at about 48lbs and easy to check through the airport.

That bottle luggage is unnecessary and a waste of $.

I use styro shippers on planes all the time. I just put the insert in a garbage bag and add extra cardboard in the sidewalls and top.

You can get a nice Velcro strap with a handle at lowes to wrap around it for about $6. Good to help carry 2 boxes when they are full.

Buy this instead: http://www.thewinecheck.com/ I have two and they work very well. When you ship a box (bottle shipper), it is conditionally accepted and the airlines take zero liability for anything that is damaged or broken. If the beer is in a suitcase, the airline is liable for any damaged contents.

Thank you for all of the replies. I was considering the WineCruzer mainly due to simplicity. I could just throw them in there and they should be ok. If something did break it would be self contained without needing any extra stuff. Check's by the TSA would be easy too.

I should have made it clearer in my previous post that I'm not completely opposed to using a shipper. The Wine Check was the other option I was considering since its cheaper and its a little more versatile since I can use the box for storage. The wino limo look's interesting, c64person. Do you do anything extra with bottles to prevent breakage/leakage?

Nope, if I have extra socks or whatnot I pack around it, but it already has soft padded sides. I havent lost a bottle or can yet and its super easy for TSA to check. Everyone that is saying go with styro shippers is silly, its a pain in the ass to haul through the airport without some sort of wheels to put it on.

I have this one. There are different inserts also available for various applications. It's expensive, but bullet proof and worth it to me for my Napa Valley trips as the wine I'm bringing back is usually +/- $100 each. I'll get some use out of it this time around bringing back Huna & VHMZ.

Very true. I made this mistake on a trip to Sanoma with a 12 Styro shipper full of wine and pliney. It was not worth carrying that thing from the rental drop off to the baggage checkin. It seriously sucked.

I was always thinking the same as you. I traveled dozens of times and packed bottles in my luggage, padded by clothes. Then I added bubble wrap around the botttles and put them in simple 3 bottle wine carriers if I was putting only beer bottles in the suitcase. And then TSA searched my bag and didn't put things back together and bottles were scattered around. I'm glad my bottle of Decoherence didn't break. After that I bought a wine check.

I was talking about the wheeled beer/wine hauler I specifically listed. Its not a hardcase, but works really well, even when TSA checks it, and ~$70 bucks is a fantastic price.

All tickets still available, I'd have to assume the current brewery list isn't helping.

So many breweries that have been mainstays over the past few years are conspicuously missing (MAZURT, Toppling Goliath, Wrecking Bar, and Wakefield, to make a few). I'm hoping the brewery list sees some serious updates before March. If not, hopefully CCB will bring plenty of beer to fill in the gaps.
