I wish you guys would take the price discussion to a PM. (Maybe you did) It's about 1.185 people that are offended by the price here, and after initial points it's better suited without an audience.

Sounds like most folks that like the style of beer gladly scooped it up and we're happy a brew that is normally an hour and a half drive away was available in Chicago. Point is nobody's getting convinced by the back and forth after one or two cycles.

@TransientArtisanAles , just ignore these guys and send all the JIL to MI, we won't whine about the price!
Also, as far as pricing, Obligatory goes for $13/4pk and IMO it stands up to most any offerings from Trillium/Treehouse that are of the same style.
Keep up the great work, cheers!

    Top 3:

3- Lunches, Brunches, and Interviews: Don't know if that was considered NE IPA but it was pretty juicy

    2- Mellotron

    1- Juice is Loose

I agree with you in the pricing for 18th Street. I think they are the only brewery where it is more expensive to buy the product at the brewery than at Binny's. Now that is price gouging. All of their beers is overpriced, but HouseofWorship would be ok with that since they were RateBeers best new Indiana brewery in 2013 so they can command a premium

People complaining about Transient's pricing need to do a per ounce price comparison with $9.99 22oz bombers of Half Acre Double Daisy Cutter. Math is tough.

PLEASE don't put these in bombers...the 16oz can is the perfect vessel for your hoppy beers.

And FWIW I have zero problem with your pricing.

I pretty much agree with this and I've had/enjoyed both Reply Hazy and SS #9, still trying to hunt down JiL. I may have liked Hop Slush just a bit more than Morning Fog. Just my 2 cents.

I'm thinking I have to amend my top 3 a little (and cheat), having had JIL now:

    1) JIL (doesn't have quite the fullness of GB/RH, but the citra profile is delicious)

2-4) (tie) GB (b1), RH, Midway ChiPA - Of the 3 Midway is the least archetypal, but the slight bitterness and more carbonation makes it more drinkable. Between GB and RH I can't decide which hop combo I prefer. Honestly, 1-4 is almost a 4-way tie for me.

Also for what it's worth, I get why people are complaining about a "Belgian yeasty" taste with GB (and now RH), but my mouth never interprets it as such. Their yeast is relatively distinctive, so while I still think they're maybe the "truest" NE IPAs I've had in Chicago, I can see why some people haven't liked them as much.

Does anyone still know if Juice is Loose is available anywhere? Was this sold exclusively at BT or did other stores get some?

    Thanks.

Not sure if this was discussed but I think Half Acre Animal Law just threw its hat in ring of the Chicagoland NE hazy goodness.

I feel like JIL, RH, GB b1, and Juicy have been the major front runners.

Any honorable mentions: mine would be 5 rabbit. They did two that were definitely unique to the style.

I most certainly have. I picked up a pack of Nimbus and Stratus from the latest batches and was really underwhelmed by both of them. The look is there on both of them, but I felt that the taste and mouth feel were just subpar. That's just my 2 cents on them, but everybody is different!

Bitter Pops has Stratus 12/21 and I'm deciding if I want to bring it along to the ipa tasting I have today. Decisions, decisions.
