For them to say it has changed, would be akin to the police accusing themselves of a crime - not going to happen.

Of course they're going to say that. In their defense, it seems HH has gotten a bit more back on track, but to me it's still not the same as it once was roughly a year or so ago.

I don't know what to make of the whole "diacetyl" in HopHands debate. For the longest time after people were talking about it, I never picked up on a buttery flavor (I would typically have it at a local bar with a permanent HopHands tap). But then there was one time I thought it tasted different and did have the butter flavor. I happened to be with someone who had never had HopHands before and asked him if he picked up a butter flavor and he said I was nuts.

Palates are finicky...are our palates playing tricks on us? Could it be an acquired taste that you don't pick up on until you've had enough of it? I know plenty of beers that taste different to me at different times.

Also, don't yeast strains change over time?

Yes, yeast strains will mutate when reused a number of times. The general rule of thumb is you should not reuse the yeast more than five times. At that point you go back to using a ‘pure’ strain either from the brewery’s yeast bank or by purchasing new yeast from a yeast vendor (e.g., Wyeast, White Labs,…).

I have no idea whether Tired Hands maintains a yeast bank.

Every brewery gets to choose which method they use for yeast management.

    Cheers!

People have different sensitivities to diacetyl with 25% of the population not able to pick it up at all. Your taste perception is affected by all your other senses (including hearing) and what you are eating and drinking at any moment. So yes, palates are finicky.

Big Dream is delicious. Reminds me of High Road. Alcohol is completely imperceptible. Admorian has a nice rye spice too. Solid release.

Jack the only reason I said that is because of their Instagram post that said they had 3 more kegs to tap tonight......until I realized a few hours ago the post was from yesterday. Oh well consolation was I went to Hidden River this afternoon and got 2 crowlers of their IPAs....very good.

I love Stickman but have not been there in a few weeks. I'll have to get there to try that. Their Brett IPA is really, really good that they have had on.
