Drinking my last beer of the year ( a can of Wander Single EyePa, if one was wondering) (already worked a shift today, have to work the NYE silliness later, and have to be back at 6am tomorrow, a nap is is right in front of me), and just wanted to raise a toast to the vast majority of ya knuckleheads. I learn from y'all, have fun with y'all, and just plain enjoy yer company.

Over the years I've been here, we've all gone through some stuff together. I like the fact that actual friendships have been formed, the fact that when we happen to encounter each other in the wild, fun seems to ensue, and the fact that (for the most part) we're comfortable enough with each other to tell each other when we think someone is wrong, with no hurt feelings.

We miss @draheim , but, I understand why he didn't come out of his bunker. I'm willing to do drive-by drops of beer and landjagers for him.

As happy as i think we all are to see 2016 bite the dust, i suspect 2017 ain't gonna be no better. Thankfully, we have breweries. Lots of 'em!

    CHEERSZ!! Ya bastardz!!!!!!

Don't worry, Terry. I'm off until Tuesday, so I'll drink on your behalf.

Oh, given the Eastern Washington box I opened earlier today, NO ONE will have to drink on my behalf. After about 10am tomorrow. Really looking forward to that crowler from IG!

That was a really tasty beer. No growler fills of it at the brewery, but the beer gods made me check Growler Guy's taplist the day I grabbed it for you.

Incidentally, that same day they had Cedar Dust on. Brian told me last summer it was coming out in cans. Any word on that?

Not officially. But, there is a 60bbl fermenter of it ready to go, but due to the holiday schedule it won't be kegged til Monday. Sadly, the key word there is kegged. The cans are on the radar, and the fact that a 4 batch fermenter was set aside for that purpose, yet it didn't happen, well, it's all well above my paygrade. When I got done work this afternoon, I really wanted a CD. Nope (I made do with a couple 10ozers of a fresh batch of ImpIPA). Not even on tap. We coulda sold sooooo maaannnyyy growlers of the stuff over the holidays, but, the beer is ready when the beer is ready. Such is life. Le sigh.

We lost a lot of rockstars this year, and we are going to keep losing them. All of us are aging. All of us.

That said, a lot of my rockstars these days are brewers, and they're younger than me. So there's that.

Happy New Year to you @beertunes, ya big-hearted galoot. Looking forward to seeing you and your corner of the state again in 2017. I'll bring beer.

    Lines of mules and kids
set us back some, but not much.
    We still have our soul.

    And sooooo much great beer.
    Even our cranky fogies
    have fair minds, good hearts.

    I learned from them, and
the rest of you. About beer,
    and other shit. Thanks.

(Had to close out the year with a haiku. It was either that or, in all likelihood, a long-winded cri de coeur. You gotta pick your poison with me.)

Well, if a sticky note can be trusted, there is a confirmed canning date of Feb 8. Grains of salt, unexpected delays, yadda yadda.

Just realized I never rated or reviewed that beer, so I just tossed up a rating from memory. Although it's listed as a Fall beer, I don't think that is true. With IG still spreading it's wings in their newish space, there's no telling if it will be brewed again.

Gotta go back and clean up after the Seacow game, otherwise that sucker would be gone by now. You can probably expect a semi-rambling, semi-coherent post on NBS later today.

That's likely not going down today. I found a few brews left over from the last BIF that should have been drank weeks ago, and, I'm still trying to work through a stash I managed to accumulate. Add in the fact that I have to walk past 3 (or, if I zig-zag a bit 4 or 5) breweries on my way back to the place I'm house sitting, and you'll understand why I'll want to save that for a, uh, more "clear' day.

BTW, do ya think that some time will help or hurt that, or should they both be on the soon list?

It's drinking pretty fantastically right now, but with two, I'd still have one right away and try the other a little later if you can wait that long, and are willing to be a martyr for science. Then again, if they hang around as long as the original Cuvee (unlikely, as brewed in smaller quantity, but possible), maybe you could drink 'em both now and gamble on it still being around later. SA is still not sufficiently appreciated in my opinion, which is a shame, but that allows their bottled beers that are sent out into the world to stick around.

Since I'm certain that y'all were waiting with great anticipation, my New Year stroll home yesterday ended up with a total of 6 breweries; Boundary Bay, Gruff, Structures, Aslan, Wander, and Kulshan's original location. One beer at each. except Kulshan, where some friends were hanging out, and a couple buddies were playing in the band, so I had two there.

I can just about picture that route, except for Kulshan, which haven't visited yet.

It seems a bit far from downtown, but from Wander, it's only a 8-10 minute zig-zag through the neighborhood. There's a bus that drops you off at Trader Joes, which is just a couple short blocks from Kulshan, so sometimes I'll start at K1 and work my way back downtown. With Greens Corner now in the mix, dehydration is even less of a worry.

And a hoppy new year to all as well. I don't post as much with my new job but I check in now and then to validate the demise of craft beer here in the Pac NW. I predict that in 2017 craft beer will finally hit critical mass and we will all shift to fermented kiwi juice/kombucha/brake cleaner combinations. Or not.

I was with ya until ya dropped kombucha into the blend. Worst beer of 2016 for me was this: https://www.beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/27861/94434/ . I didn't notice the kombucha on the label, just the bourbon-peach ale part. Oh shit, is that stuff bad. Here's my comment from Untappd: "Sweet Boneless Jesus! What the fuck was I thinking? Fermented hippies soaked in patchouli." Some how, I still gave a 1.75 rating. Wuddafuq was I thinking?

Good kombucha reminds me of a wild ale. Never got the hatred for the stuff.
