I've never had to wait in line or wake up at 3AM for a Carton release. I know it sucks that people missed out, but they still do it better than anybody else.

This was probably their fastest sell-out (for Regular Coffee at least) and even still, everybody who showed up yesterday from the minute they opened to the minute they closed got whatever they came in for.

    Keep doing what you're doing.

I wasn't able to get cans but it's because I'm visiting family in Western PA. This is a testament to the beers you've been producing and I feel that your releases are about as fair as you can get. As long as I'm able to get a case of Nelson O'Dub while not facing a huge line you have me sold.

In my younger years I loved the waiting game and sharing in line. Now that I'm an old man (35, haha) I don't want to deal with the aggravation of planning an entire day or longer to get 1-2 bottles of something.

No matter what you do there will be differing opinions, but I feel that you guys are one of the best in terms of releasing beer (i.e. growlers of Shipwreck lasting for MONTHS).

I think besides All Orange Everything this was the fastest sellout I've seen and AOE didn't see distribution.

    I think it is.

But again, it still lasted the ENTIRE day. If you went, you got.

Yup. AOE lasted a few minutes into Wednesday at 1-4pk/pp. Like Augie said 200 cases are going out to stores.

I'm sure everyone on here knows what stores by them will get it. I imagine they will also do a 4pk limit so it shouldn't be to hard to come by. I could have gone yesterday but laid on the couch wondering why I thought a ton of gin and tonics and Jameson shots seemed liked a good idea New Years Eve. I'll learn one day...Maybe

I think @augiecarton needs to start PMing people on here to get the OK to release a beer beforehand.

    Obviously that's a joke.

Out of all Brewer's I love to buy beer from, Carton is one place that makes it soooo easy to get cans. Welcome to beer entitlement folks.

Yeah was scotch did me in and prevented me from getting off the couch Sunday. In distro last year some places actually limited reg coffee to one or two CANS. But I was still glad to get it. There are just some people (and one in particular when it comes to Kane and Carton) that, unless they actually get the beer in question, will complain about the process for any given release.

Augie, as far as limits go, I think you are doing a decent job. I would rarely drive the hour to get there and the hour back, especially when it's not summer time so not much else to do over there, for one or two four packs. When the limits are high enough to warrant the trip, but not so high that stuff sells out immediately, there should be no complaints.

On large release days like yesterday and today, your brewery is one of the best. I received an email notifying me of the release, a YouTube notification with a video explaining the new twist on Caffé Corretto, saw a Facebook post and an Instagram post just for good measure.

I chose not to head out on New Years Day but was fortunate enough to have off of work today. I sent the brewery a message on instagram and they responded in less than five minutes. I waited in line for 20 minutes when usually I can be in and out in 2 minutes but talked with friendly people on line and it didn't bother me. The staff was awesome as always and dealt with a huge rush without freaking out. What more do you want for accommodations? Well it's also released for distribution.

As New Jersey itself expands its footprint in the craft brew market, there will be lines at releases of filthy good brews like coffee. It's going to happen. Cypress ran out of a release in 45 minutes in December because of their hype and a limited production. There is a growing secondary trade market that has to be accounted for.

Drink local and thank the brewers. Then thank the brewers that interact a 2nd time and quit you're whining.

Reminds me of the guy that constantly complains on Kane's FB about missed releases....complete 3rd grade meltdowns about missing last year's ANTEAD. Hmmm.

Maybe your selective in what your reading on here.

I praised Carton, as I'm sure I'll continue to do, up and down for a long time now for releases. How it's released, the quality of product and overall experience. @augiecarton may not be happy with me right now but surely he'd vouch for that. I remember being on a long string of positive rants for his blessings of dry hopped O'dub variants that I drank my weight in.

I recently praised Kane for the Mexican Brunch release and how well done it was, the speed and clarity. I praised Kane for several bottles that released, that I missed, including Fall Saints and, forgive me, one I can't recall. The praise was for how long the bottles lasted, definitely not on them if you didn't get it, not that it ever really is.

I've shared my fair amount of unpopular opinion, no doubt. I don't come on here asking anyone to agree with it. you're viewpoint is yours to give, but it's nonsense.

Honestly, you need to shut it down tonight. Tomorrow, you will regret what you wrote (I hope). I'm sure you are a nice guy but you went too far tonight imo. People, no more shots at @HopBomb515, OK?

You quoted that, but missed all the comments made on the other side of the fence? So your saying I voice an opinion, mind you I never actually complained or at least it wasn't the intent, and out of everything said in my direction I'm the one that should have regrets? Honestly, I don't understand your position here.

I basically made 3 points. I stated that this was not what we're used to from a Carton release. This is true, do 1,200 people show up and wipe out O'dub in a day and a half?

I said it didn't last as long as I expected. Going off of previous releases of even this beer specifically I felt that was valid.

The biggest opinion I dropped was the allotments. I do think they were a bit high if it went that fast. Augie made his point and I said fair enough.

I love that Augie comes in here. I love his beer. I love his brewery. I like Augie. Most interactions here are pleasant. I do think he gets defensive at the drop of unpopular opinion and I do feel he jumped on me a bit. That's how I saw it, that's how I called it. Apologies if it's causing me to not get along because I don't bend over backwards with praise all the time.

Where you lost me and basically everybody else is that you don't win any discussions when you resort to such personal attacks. Your quoted paragraph was too rude and disrespectful to Augie and you need to reflect on that alone.

That's fair. Apologies @augiecarton I do feel like my comments were a bit too much a personal shot at you. I was aiming for being direct, but can see how it came off rude. Not my intent, again, apologies for that.

For what tilts worth it's very normal we just usual space it in shorter open times like 5-8 Thursday then Friday then Saturday.
But 8-10 open hours is how long it takes to sell this sized batch of a one off.
Again so much for distro is why we are out. had we kept the beer 100% at carton it'd make it through Wednesday maybe Thursday.
4 4 packs of 12oz cans is not a large allotment. Your opinion is wrong here.

Man, Everybody love everybody. Have we forgotten why we're on here, because we all love beer and the community that it brings (sometimes). But at the end of the day, that's all it is, a beer. An enjoyable beverage that lasts 12-16 oz at a time and helps us to connect with people all over the state, country or even world, while at the same time giving us a little buzz here and there. Sure we would all love to get all the amazing beer we can but sometimes that is simply not possible.

It's not like you missed out on the love of your life, wrecked your dream car, or lost your house. You missed out on a beer, and if you really put your mind to it, you can still get it anyway. I didn't go but by my own choosing and I'll live with it. The money I save by not going will just go to more great beer in the future.

Here's to a great 2017 everyone. Augie, thank you, you're just as awesome as your beer.

    Cheers!

All discussion of lines, allotments, and release schedules aside, I drove down to Carton for the first time today to pick up some cans. Drinking a Cafe Y Churro now (never had before), and I'm absolutely blown away. So much cinnamon and vanilla sweetness. Just wanna thank @augiecarton for creating this delicious beer!

Truly dug Cafe Corretto. The coffee and fennel/anise flavor was unmistakable for a goomba such as myself. Really brought espresso and sambuca to mind when sipping it.

I'm bummed I missed the Coffee release but I was so hungover I couldn't function. What are ya gonna do? :grimacing::rolling_eyes:

I will be hunting a couple cans down on the distro level though. Any idea when stores will be getting them? I know these go super fast and most of the stores I frequent don't announce when they get them and keep them in the back.

Will regular also be on growler stations? That would be sweet.
