Now, there is no doubting whether that thing is a vase or a glass! It's a glass, right?

Now this is my kind of beer! Well, it's called Carlstad, made in Karlstad, which means Karl's Town. And I'm Karl! :grinning: So, I should like it, right?

Last day of winter vacation before I start school back tomorrow. Might as well enjoy it.

Trappistes Rochefort 8. Almost looks the same as the #6 I had before. In fact it is the same beer, only contains a little more alcohol. Number 8 also is widely available (in NW Europe), while number 6 is hard or not to find, even in the low countries (probably only made once a year).

By the way, you can not visit the brewery. And the shop at the abbey is only open during the weekends for as far as I know.

The monks that produce this beer, Cistercians, are the kind of Trappists that are a bit to themselves. There are not many of them. And I also heared the average age is quite high ...

I have no idea how old this bottle of 18th Street Hunter is, but it's been in the fridge long enough. If I had to guess I'd say at least a year. I feared the worst as there have been reports of some of their beer not cellaring well. No problems with this one as it is velvety smooth and tasting like a malted milk ball.

A foggy damp morning here where I ventured out for a short run. It wasn't a good idea as I'm not fully recovered from my New Year's Day 5k, but I wanted to log a few more miles before the temperature plunges later today and stays there for a few days. I think an appointment with the whirlpool is next!

Cheers! I leave with a tune I heard on the local college radio station on the way home.

I think part of the problem of getting new apprentices may lay in the fact that these monks usually get up at 3 (!) in the morning ...

    Good morning Ba's!
With most of the morning errands out of the way I can finally sit and enjoy some free range blue and brown eggs with a different cup of coffee. Péché Mortel by Brasserie Dieu du Ciel is on my breakfast menu.

This brew pours black with little to no head. Minimal lacing. Big roasted coffee on the nose with some subtle hints of toasted biscuit.Taste follows the nose, cold brew coffee with minimal heat from the 9.5 ABV. This is a good Stout overall. If it were a little thicker and sweeter I would compare it to Bell's Expedition stout.

Yeah, I guess. Vases have been done, you need something fresh. Now, if you poured those beers into an outdoor fountain or maybe a bird bath (perfect for your profile name) and drank from a swirly straw...that would be creative :grinning:!

Aliens being a pillar in the action/sci-fi genre,I am curious as to which Sci-Fi films you place in your top 10.

So am I. It changes weekly. :stuck_out_tongue:
Seriously, though, off the top of my head here are 4 flicks that I always tune into for some part whenever they are on:
    - Blade Runner (foh shuh)
    - Alien, Aliens, Alien 3
    - Escape from New York

So many more but those are the first ones to hit my meagre mind right now.
