I had a couple of cans of the most recent batch of Manor Hill IPA over the weekend and it was, by far, the best that beer has ever tasted. I'm not sure if there was a recipe tweak or this is simply a product of their inconsistency, but it was hazy citrusy goodness.

Good to know. I recently tried Taylor's Row in cans and it was incredibly bad. One sip was too much.

That beer was so bad that it made me want to avoid Manor Hill IPAs for good. Fortunately the IPA this weekend was purchased by a friend, as I'm not sure I would've been willing to buy it.

    What is the can date?

Tried a can dated 10/28 and thought it tasted like a run of the mill IPA.

Were you talking about the Taylor's Row or the regular Manor Hill IPA? On the Taylor's row, I'm not sure, but earlier than that. I drank it in early September. Maybe it was just a bad batch?

The regular Manor Hill IPA was from late October, I believe.

I was referring to the regular Manor Hill IPA. It tasted OK but I wasn't really impressed.

Maybe a case of low expectations?

I guess your post about "hazy citrusy goodness" heightened my expectations so I was expecting a NE style IPA. Instead, I found a relatively clear IPA that tasted on par with Jai Alai.

Nothing wrong with it, just nothing out of the ordinary in my book.

Actually Jai Alai is a great comparison for what it tasted like! But maybe I'm a bigger Jai Alai fan than others.

Jailbreak is releasing a NE-style IPA this Friday in their taproom for growler fills. Word on the street is that they will be running this like the Luponic series. Each iteration aimed at being a hazy-style IPA, but with a different hop profile.

"relatively clear IPA" - I drink beer, I don't care what it looks like. It's not a painting.
"tasted on par with Jai Alai" - and that's a BAD THING??? WTF?!

Are you going to try it out and report back? I'm interested, but a bit skeptical.

Never said I carried about what a beer looks like or that tasting like Jai Alai is a bad thing. Sounds like you are misinterpreting the post.

I'm planning on going and will. I know the brewer and this is his first stand alone beer with them. Based on his past NE-styles I'm confident and pumped.

What do you mean by his first stand alone beer?

You should not be skeptical of this. The dude who brewed it is a legendary homebrewer and brewed a great NE-STYLE Pale Ale at District Chophouse.

This will be light years different from any Jailbreak IPA you've ever had.

He's a shift brewer. This is the first recipe he's created at Jailbreak

In fairness, you said it didn't live up to your expectations, then commented that it was relatively clear and tasted like Jai Alai, so I assumed you were criticizing those aspects.
