The website is always current with the taproom. A 6-7 seat bar with 3-4 tables in an industrial section of Edison near Middlesex County College. Recently bottle releases have been increasing and there is a Chocolate Peanut Butter Cappuccino Stout to be released next.

In the fall 2016, they did an interesting collaboration with Dark City Brewing Co. in Asbury called Sacc'd Lunch. It tasted like a peanut butter and jelly sandwich.

I like these guys but do you think we need a monthly thread for them?

I guess it depends how often @Ryty410 Is going to post about them. No one else seems to care what they do.

Yeah closest brewery to my house but I have only been twice; I usually take the extra time and go to Kane or Carton instead and only go here sporadically.

I guess it can't hurt to give them more visibility, and the beer certainly is not bad, but at this point not sure they are doing anything worthy of their own thread.

Insane in the Grain is a good IIPA and with the trip. I may swing by next week and try the Naughty stout as well. Sounds interesting.

Did anyone try the jersey winter or the other bottled beer they did shortly before Christmas?

Also not sure pointing out their collaboration with dark city is going to do then any favors

I was going to point out the same think but I get accused of being too snarky.

I like Cypress. I really like that I can drive less than 30 minutes (which is rare where I live) any day of the week to grab a solid local beer, and Charlie and Jason are really nice guys. With that said, while most hasn't been undrinkable, nothing has been spectacular or on any Top 10 lists of best NJ beers.

The Coconut Brown is probably my favorite regular offering from them. 7 Mile and Insane in the Grain are solid IPAs, but I don't think either of them compare to Dub or G-Waves or anything from Kane or even Lil Shimmy Ye.

As far as special releases/bottles, Cypress Love was good, Sacc'd Lunch was maybe only slightly better than average, and Black Cherry Alliance was flat-out horrid (to the point that they were practically giving them away at the Jersey Winter/Naughtier release). B.A.C.K.M.A.N.N. is supposedly the best beer Charlie ever made, but its the only Cypress I've never had.

In terms of the recent releases, I preferred Jersey Winter. Its very heavy handed on the coconut which I like, but it did have the drawback of being a bit "grainy" from the cocoa - weird texture/mouthfeel. I had high hopes for Naughtier because I thought Naughty was very good, but I think the barrel muted some of the beers best traits. It was good, but not great.

Really don't think these guys warrant a monthly thread, Magnify is on it's way to one, these guys not yet.

The Jersey winter was very heavy handed on the Coconut and smooth at only 6%. Insane in the Grain is a solid IIPA. They had a great Vanilla Porter at the Mercer County Beerfest. They are still expanding and it is a great spot to grab beer without a crowd.

I'm only on the site for a week and wasn't sure that only breweries that create buzz have a monthly thread.Do all the other breweries have general threads?

Because Demented in Middlesex offers new variations every Tuesday and could use a thread but not a monthly thread if that's the rule.

I'm surprised Magnify doesn't have a thread. They had had some juice bombs. The Dr. Saic release this weekend moved quickly.

If I were in charge I would just have a thread for the brewery and not start a new one each month. For a brewery that doesn't get much action, a monthly thread is counterproductive. They would be better served with keeping all the info on one thread.
A monthly thread for Cypress seems unnecessary. We have posted more about whether they should have a monthly thread than we have ever talked about the brewery itself.

Pretty much every brewery has its own thread. It seems that only breweries that get tons of chatter each day get a monhly thread. I think this is to keep things fresh and up to date. Otherwise breweries like Kane/Carton/Other Half would be hundreds of pages long. These breweries also tend to have more can and bottle releases to talk about. There's no rule about starting one though.

Must say went back here for first time in a while and they are vastly improved. Weren't bad before but some of the beers were a little rough around the edges. Apparently they have been tweaking recipes and IMO the IIPA is up there with some if the best in the state (approaching odub and overhead quality, which is a bold take, I know, but I think it is getting there). The vanilla porter is also dead on for the style. Really high quality. Also had the dubbel which was good though I don't drink many belgians so can't say how it compares to others. The growler pricing is a bit high to me ($20 for 64oz of the IIPA; same for the porter); correct me if I am wrong but I think Kane is $4 cheaper at least.

In any event, if you haven't been in a while get back there, and if you've never been it is totally worth the trip

Oh and the staff and patrons are all really chill, and you can order food to be delivered.

My biggest complaint is that the website and facebook pages are not up to date in what is available.

The staff is always relaxed and there's some good space to sit down. The quality has been improving and there needs to be more tinkering. The growlers are overpriced and I wouldn't say the IPAs are that good but the Vanilla Porteris great and it is by far their best brew
