    Post 1000.:sunglasses:

Pro-tip: Do not drink 2 Aorta Ales after multiple other beers as night cappers. It will not end well.

    From the Short's website:

In an effort to reaffirm their commitment to local, Michigan small businesses, Short’s Brewing Company announces the distribution of two brews for independent Michigan accounts only. Publican Porter, a classic Short’s brew and Chief Hopper, a brand new Double IPA will be distributed to interested Michigan accounts with fewer than five locations nationwide. Both Publican Porter and Chief Hopper will be available in six-packs of 12oz bottles and various keg sizes.
The idea to brew and distribute a beer for independent Michigan accounts originated this past summer. With Short’s decision to expand their distribution footprint to include new states in early 2016, the company sought ways to demonstrate its commitment to local, independent establishments.

Receiving an impressive score of 92 on BeerAdvocate, Publican Porter, is a London-Style Porter that was originally bottled as a part of Short’s 2007 Imperial Beer Series. In contrast, Chief Hopper is a new Double IPA hopped with Vic Secret, Simcoe, and Centennial hops and inspired by the show “Stranger Things.” Chief Hopper made it’s debut at the Short’s Brewing Company pub this past fall to rave reviews.

Restaurants, taprooms, bars, and independent retailers are encouraged to contact their Short’s or Imperial Beverage representative to place an order before January 13th, 2017. Michigan residents, look forward to enjoying both beverages on tap and in bottles in early March.

I think everybody that contributed to that score of 92 should Have a reserved six pack of Publican, whether in or out of state.

This is excellent news! The new stuff is always nice to try, but it's even better when old favorites return to the shelves.

I will second that. Spruce Pilsner and Publican began my love for Shorts brews years ago. They are still easily my favorites.

@HopHeadHerman , one of my local stores said that they may not be receiving any Smore Stout because Short's stopped bottling it due to the graham cracker giving the beer an undiserable appearance. Have you heard anything like this?

I've been jonesing lately for some good old Pontius Road. Hopefully it'll be on tap again when I get up to the pub this summer.

i sure hope not. been waiting anxiously for this one.

also, on a trolling level: if the appearance being undesirable means that i never have to read another person describe a beer as having "a subtle off-white head", then sign me up.

If the particulate matter in Key Lime or Short's Cake isn't going to deter anyone, I'm pretty sure some Graham cracker crumbs in a stout aren't gonna be a deal breaker.

We did encounter an issue with Smore Stout in bottles. The ingredients that were used gave some an undesirable color character. That being said, not all were affected that dramatically. Scott and I shared one which was spot on delicious, like it was poured from the pub. Hopefully, we'll find a way to dial it in. Kegs were not affected, from what I know.

And THAT being said, Hopstache is cruising right along, accordingly.

Thank goodness. There's a Short's beer and dinner pairing next month and dessert is served with Smore Stout. Hopstache will be there, too!

If any southeastern BAs are interested, it's at Karl's Cabin in Plymouth. I've been meaning to stop for yeeeears now (the food is supposed to be excellent). February 15, tickets in advance, link to the event here.

Still can't believe there won't be any Superfluid bottled this year. Total bummer.

If you can still find their Hoppy Holidays variety pack, you can snag three bottles of Superfluid that way.

I had to buy a couple variety packs for that reason - Superfluid is hands-down one of my favorite IPAs.

Yes, I drank two of the Hoppy Holiday 12 packs when they came out but that wasn't enough Superfluid to hold me. I drink at least a case of it every year, bummed.

Well, sorry to inform everyone that kegs of Smore Stout may not be making their way out. There's apparently too much confusion and reluctance to release this one...don't quote me 100% here, but it's looking that way.

If this is the case, I'll just reiterate the fact that we are committed to discovering a way to make this beer work in a bottle, without sacrificing the quality of ingredients.
