This thread is straight jokes. Looking forward to the morphing of multi-quotes from the topic of kids in a beer line to who is more violent, Dodgers or Giants fans.

That said, I've liked most of the Monkish beers I've had, but the nonsense you have to go through to get them has kind of killed it for me. I'm thankful to the few LA traders who have done reasonable trades (just a can or two) for other good IPAs and not helped perpetuate Tree House West. I'm just glad other breweries are starting to make hazy beers so I can indulge occasionally with the hope that they'll become ubiquitous enough that people won't try and trade me 2 Monkish cans for my first born that they will then take with them to stand in a 2-3 hour line in the parking lot waiting for Monkish cans. Wait......... I think I might have figured it out.

I'm glad and lucky to be so close to RiiP which has made my lazy life even better with Hazy Sunday. No need to make that growler fill stop at Monks anymore. Just hope RiiP keeps it up.

ha, this thread is just as good as the Other Half one after releases. Pages and pages of adults bickering like children about children.

Made the trip up to Riip about a month ago. Really, really enjoyed it. I only wish it were closer to some other breweries, so that I could hit it up whenever I'm in Costa Mesa or Anaheim. I guess it's not too far from Beachwood Seal Beach...

Only bout 3-4 miles from BWHB. My house is exactly halfway between the 2.

But back to beer (sort of):

Wild speculation here, but do we think there's any chance Monkish either expands or opens a second, smaller location (a la Smog City Steelcraft) sometime this year? Lack of space obviously becoming more pressing by the month at the Torrance tasting room.

I would highly doubt it. Henry and Adriana didn't even really significantly add to their staff ranks until a couple of years ago. He's not one for making quick decisions (which isn't a bad thing).

It is a buddy's local spot - has been encouraging me to go, but I don't often make it down that way.

I can see a second taproom location happening in the next few years (which is what Smog's Steelcraft spot is, right?). Would be surprised if they moved the brewing operation at this time.

Also, I am not sure they would make the decision because the taproom gets slammed on can release days and brand new IPAs for growler fills. The crowd at Monkish has been very reasonable the past few times I have gone that weren't related to a can release or the holiday growler fills.

Do they even have room to expand where they're at right now? Although I guess they could have some kind of off-site production facility.

No, not unless they take over a different space in the same business park, but I have no idea what the availability there actually is.

My guess is that production would remain where it is and a second taproom would be opened up elsewhere like Smog has done with their Steelcraft location.

A second location with cold storage, a canning line, kids are permitted and even encouraged, a nice wide open parking lot for line ups and line shares, food, rainbows and plenty of beer for all.
Man, this thread would have nothing to talk about if that happened.

Add a dedicated growler fill station and you've created utopia. Except the kids.

AFAIK, there has been only one anecdotal assertion that there was an altercation since the move to midweek releases. It is not like there is resounding evidence that this is a regular occurrence.
