Any good bottle shops in the area?

 

Only place worth stopping at is And Beer on Court, but Southeast Ohio gets the short end of the stick with distro so don't expect anything crazy. Devil's Kettle may still have their BA Imperial Black Ale available, not sure, and there's several bottles available at Little Fish.

 

Anybody see bottle counts posted?

 

Anyone doing a bottle share at the OU Inn this weekend? I'm booked both Friday and Saturday night if someone wants to get something set up.

 

I'll be there Friday night. If you get enough interest I'd be down.

 

So since Brad is taking feedback on the latest Oro batch (and thank you for that btw!!) I really enjoyed this batch overall! I love how big the chocolate is and I like that the cinnamon is a bit lower in the mix, but I could definitely use more peppers! That said, I'll never complain about getting some Oro!

 

If anyone gets info on bottle counts for the 1pp bottles please post. Won't get down there till 3ish today and want to know if we need to get straight in line or if we have time to stop uptown for a few beers first.

 

I know that Brad checks this thread, so I figured I'd put some praise in here for him. I think Oro is the best of the spiced stouts I've had to this point, and it's not even a contest. Granted, I still haven't tried Abraxas or Mexican Cake yet, but everything else (including Huna) hasn't been as good as Oro.

 

For me, BB Oro is one of the best barrel aged mole/Mexican spiced stout I've had, right up there with the Jack's Abby BA Mole that I really enjoyed. This is saying a lot for me because I'm not a fan of the bourbon barrel treatment in most beers. BB Mayan Mocha unexpectedly blew me away as well.

However, I have to give props to the relatively more attainable BOMB! and Xocoveza--for the unaged versions, those are still tops for me with Huna. Unfortunately BOMB does not age well, at all--I've had a couple around a year old that started tasting terribly of prune and raisin, more than I otherwise would have thought possible for the style. And the barrel aged Xoco's were kind of crappy as well IMO, like they somehow got watered down and muted. Mexican Cake was too spicy to me, and Abraxas was passable but not something I'd seek out again.

As a sidenote, is anyone finding it hard to keep track of all of these mole-spiced stouts? Especially for comparisons sake, there are so many offerings of this style at this point, I wish we could have an official sub category for it here. Not to mention the even larger sub-category of bourbon barrel aged stouts...

 

I heard 200ish on the sours. Probably won't last until then if that's true.

Yeah, the beer samples are really nice. I'd be struggling without them. Still in line, but getting close to the front

 

Heads up, they are not allowing any parking at sonic now, ignore the signs that say you can park in the back lot of sonic. they said towing will happen.

 

The DJ is playing Juvenile and Tribe Called Quest. Best beer release ever.
