No, I was enjoying it less the more I had- maybe half the can. It wasn't undrinkable, but I figured that I can only have so many beers with work the next day, so I wanted them to be worth my while.

I'm sincerely glad that you got a glimpse of the better version. Here's hoping that they get their issues under control.

This funny beer is by Brasserie de la Senne and it's called Monsieur Shelton & Co. because it was brewed to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the Shelton Brothers... or as the label puts it: "20 years of opinionated beer importing."

I love Brasserie de la Senne. I recently grabbed two of their Brett beers including this one. Yesterday I drank one called Bruxellensis and I thought it was incredible. It reminded me of Orval. It featured Brett fruit notes and bitter hops. It really impressed me.

I don't like this one nearly as much, but it's still a very nice beer. It's one of those impossibly chalky pale Belgian beers. It's dry and light. The Brett is apparent and the hops are very balancing. It feels deft with it's build and lightness.

Yeah - for them, but it won't make much of a difference to me because I'm done - the whole experience left a bad taste in my mouth.

    Von Trapp Trosten Lager

As a "dark, smoked lager" by Von Trapp, I feel like this is a must try for @TongoRad

The label says that Trosten is German for comfort and that this beer is full of gemütlichkeit. When I put those words in a web translator, I get "comfort" for both of them.

I feel like the experience of this beer isn't too far removed from that of a smoked malt porter even though it feels like a lager. It has that roasty and ashy quality. This isn't a Schlenkerla substitute.

It's not bad but it's not my cup of tea. I like my smoked malt beers to encourage bigger drinking. This one doesn't and it also doesn't have the heft to be a nice sipper.

Wow that's a really difficult question...I had all "original Zoigls" and.. I'd say...sorta kinda, but not really. Not in a "style" sense, anyway. Most of the time,Zoigl is hazy, pale-bright orange and goes down very well. But I had almost clear Zoigl, dark Zoigl, and all were very tasty in a different way.. It's like every family has their own recipe, and even those recipes are subject to experimentation, like with darker malts and so on. And when you look at Neuhaus an der Pegnitz, the Zoigl there is pretty different to Oberpfalz Zoigl..

I mean, with the Friedenfels brewery you can kind of see that also at commercial breweries, "Zoigl" is more of a catch all term than anything else- they have pale Zoigl, dunkles Zoigl, Weizen Zoigl...
