Read as Hoarders Society Release. That versus Hoarders Society Exclusive like Room for More was listed as.

For anyone who has placed an order already, if you max a guaranteed allocation but don't "wish" for any, does wishing still show up as an option? So like does it say "none available but wish for up to X"? Or does it look like you have to wish at the same time you buy?

There will be a confirmation email that goes out.

It does not. I maxed on 4 bottles of Room for More and now going back it is "None Available".

The ability to wish for more did not show up for me when I purchased the growler, so I'd say for now make sure you wish for more when you make your allocation purchase. Otherwise I imagine emailing the society list would be the only option.

Weird. I didn't get one...or maybe I didn't notice it since they don't tell you what the order is for.

In other words, HS needs to max out so the RS guys don't get it. Exclusivity has it's privileges.

Smoked beer = no buy = let the RS/PS/Public sale begin!

I got a bottle of 2012 Smoking Wood Bourbon in last years archive sale and loved it. I wasn't around when it was still in production, but I've been reading bits of sarcasm and hate. What was it that people didn't like? Or was it just that people got tired of it?

Smoked beers in general seem pretty polarizing. Some people just don't like the style, no matter how good (for what it is) a given beer may be.

This. I'm not a fan of smoked flavor in anything I eat or drink. I'm sure the bruery made great beers, just like they always do, but I just can't do smoked flavors.

And considering the kegs lasted for months upon months upon months, I'd assume most people would agree with me.

I am not a fan of Smoking Wood nor its variants, but that Smokey and the Bois....excellent.

I also thought both the 12 and 14 Bourbon Barrel Smoking Woods from the archive sale were excellent. However I thought the 14 Rye Barrel Smoking Wood was meh (a tasty beer, but relative to all the other Bruery beers I could be drinking not worth a repeat). I think the Rye version was the more common variant, but I could be mistaken.

A word to the wise for those that have Bruery ship to them in CA. I emailed the Society folks and they said if you are given beers that you "wish" for they are added to your original order (as opposed to a new order being created). So, if you're orchestrating the size of certain orders so that they'll fit evenly into flex-shippers, keep that in mind!

I've had the '12 Smoking Woods (bourbon and rye), though quite some time apart - I remember the bourbon one feeling pretty smooth and awesome and the rye one having a little bit of spiciness to it that didn't really felt like it belonged. I think I still have a bottle of each, should try them side by side.

In general I really like smoked beers, looking forward to trying Melange 5.

Small test with the new "wish for" option on the site... if you purchase any part of your allocation, you lose the option to request more than your allocation for that period. Purchased 1 of 2 allocated Befuddlement, UI now shows me I have only 1 more available, instead of 1 for allocation and 2 available for request. Seems like something that could potentially be fixed with the site in the future. @BruerJoel Cheers

Thanks for the notes. I also purchased a 2012 Rye that I have yet to open. I expected them to be similar. I'll have to give it a try.

If you liked Room for Me, then you'll want to max out on Room for More. Without tasting them side by side, there wasn't an immediately discernible difference, but it was over the top fruity and just tart enough.

As for the comparisons between Smoking Wood and Melange 5, there really aren't any. Yes, Melange 5 has smokiness, but doesn't have that artificial smoke flavor that Smoking Wood had (and I really like Smoking Wood).

Will there be any hoarders at terruex tonight? Apparently RdF is hoarders only pour, which is a bummer because it's part of my initiation package.
