    brewing a rye pale ale I am super excited for. Using alot of simcoe and some cascade to dry hop.

    1st attempt at all-grain on sunday. going to try the brew in a bag method to make a 2.5 gallon batch of sierra nevada pale ale clone. also 1st time using hops from my garden...perle & cascade...perfect for snpa.

    Same, just moving my first ever all grain to secondary, then dry hopping with centennial and citra, these were the hops used in boil as well. Its an IPA btw. Cheers

    Kegging/dry-hopping an APA with Nelson, Citra, Amarillo (2:1:1). Will dryhop with the same.

    Trying something new. Just got a 15 gallon brew kettle which I am going to use to steep grains and then dissolve malt extract in at about 150 - 160 F. I'll then draw off about 3.5 gallons 3 separate times. I'll each boil separately, using a different single hop for each: Citra, Columbus, and then probably Northern Brewer. Each boil will last 20 minutes (one addition at 20 and one at flameout). Each will be fermented with US-05. In the end I should have about 8.5 to 9 gallons of 3 different American Pale/Ambers with exactly the same malt but three different hops.

    Just to save time in doing three consecutive boils/coolings/transfers. I'll up the 20 minute hops to get decent bittering along with their flavor contribution. Also, I believe that the benefits that a longer boil imparts when doing all-grain brewing are not needed with extract.

    Brewing up a pumpkin/spiced ale.

    10#s pale
    1# victory
    1# C60
    58oz Libby's pumpkin mix (baked @ 350 for 45mins)
    1# brown sugar (@ 60)
    2oz Hallertau (60 & 5mins)
    1.5 tbs mccormicks pumpkin spice (@10mins)
    1 Whirlfloc tab @ 10
    Fermenting with WLP001.

    Using the mashtun I built tonight for the first time (52qt Coleman Xtreme). Also looking forward to using the shirron plate chiller my brother in law gave me as a wedding gift. Haven't had an opportunity to bust that out yet.

    Taking a break from the the BIAB I've been doing for the past year or so. Looking forward to checking out the 3 vessel brewing. Just might like it!

    Hum. I'm not quite sure whether I should take this last remark as sarcasm; I'll assume that it is. I certainly am not an extract connoisseur, but I was under the impression that much of the benefits of long boils had already been achieved in the making of the extract. Perhaps this is wrong, but I have tasted excellent hopped-extract beers that had no boil at all. I am certainly happy to be educated on this matter.

    My first use of Brett, I cant explain how excited I am about this one. The Brett dominates the smell and the taste reminds me of the funk of unblended lambic. I hope it carbs up nice... I will hate to see this beer leave my keg.

    Sounds great. Good Luck! I diverged from my usual Citra/Cascade/Amarillo/Centennial Combo this time and used Centennial/UK Progress and Amarillo in the boil. Added more Crystal malt than i usually do also. Samples tasted real good!

    Just doughed in. Brewing my saphir kolsch again, with an added addition of some NZ Motueka hops. Seemed like they would make a nice combination of flavors.

    First brew in a long time..Did I really leave everything dirty???
    My friend grew some hops of unknown origin so we plan to use the five ounces dried to make a straightforward IPA. Everyone has high expectations but I am not so sure!

    Just out of curiousity, what are they considering "cider apples". Growing up on an orchard, Cider apples were just seconds, a smaller sized apple, a bird peck in one, slightly disfigured apple, not enough color etc. We never used droppings from the ground as it was possible that they would contaminate a batch of cider, but we definitely never grew "cider apples" specifically. Just a mix of gala, golden delicious, or whatever was being sorted and put onto the shelves.
