In fairness, it's a new feature. I think today's email was them realizing there were a lot of open questions and trying to fix that (as opposed to them sending it late on purpose).

Exactly. Though it would have been nice to receive Monday, we do have until Sunday to decide, versus Friday of the third week like previous.

They do. It was a joke, I just want some merch now that I'm in HS.

Last weekend I had BT '14 , BT '16, GM '16 & BCBS '14. BT '14 was silky smooth, and was awesome / perfect . '16 was a bit hot in comparison.

BCBS was awesome... maybe more bourbon flavor in comparison, but I never looked back and thought BT was "watery" in any way. BCBS is a different animal, though that doesn't diminish the taste/flavor of BT. People don't care for BT anymore b/c it's easy, which is fine with me. If it was as limited as it was years back...that would be another story.

While it wasn't a side by side tasting, my friend & I felt BT '14 was our favorite of the weekend.

100% agreed. Either they were hoping no one would notice or maybe they didn't want to highlight another odd "feature" of the site. Either way I didn't take it in a bad way. I think Joel provided feedback and they included it in the email. At least the people outside of here know about it now.

    Cool
    The box is about 10x8x8
Can't fit a Bruery beer inside.

is Rue d'Floyd smoky at all (and I mean AT ALL)? the "charred" and "scorched" in the description make me nervous

Agree with you here. Cost is nearly the same to ship a case of beer, and the merch box was tiny.

Not that I will make it there to get some, but I am glad to see they are increasing the RS/HS32 fills. It looks like all but one release (RD'F) are available. In the past it seems like it was the opposite, or at least for the good society releases.
How far are we away from a black Tuesday or another day of the week fill?

True, but perhaps the idea of "Okay, in the allocations after this one, we'll have the feature in effect, but on this one, we'll just do a second chance, first come, first serve like past allocations."

Given that it costs almost as much as a 12 bottle shipper, I was surprised by how small the box was with the HS merch - basically big enough to hold the two glasses, with the other odds and ends packed around them. There's definitely something off in the merch shipper pricing given that a 9 bottle shipper is way larger, and cheaper.

I would describe it as "roasty", the kind you would expect from nice coffee porter/stout, but not "smoky". Cracked one last night and really, really enjoyed it - now I'm hoping the bottle stoppers help it hold up until I can drink the rest tonight

    It totally sucks.

So I'll take your two off your hands.

But honestly, I don't really get any smoky from it, but if anything it's more of a coffee roast characteristic.

In case you've had these two beers, I thought RdF reminded me of either a BA Bomb! minus the chilies or a BA Victory at Sea with a bit more sweetness from the cherries.

Yeah, "watery" to me means a reduced amount of flavor. Like "watered down scotch". BT doesn't have the "body" that BCBS has. But I think BT has more, and more complex, flavor. Thin would be a better adjective than watery.

I saw Preservation got Mocha Wednesday, will we get a chance at that?

Yes, it should be in our allocations sometime in February. If you look at the bottom of your email it lists "on the horizon" and what beers are coming up in the next couple of months.

If you read the note under the Instagram pic it also says February for RS/HS.

Rue D'Floyd for sure isn't smoky. Its a typical BBA stout from them with coffee (so some roasty flavors here) and cherries and nilla.

Seriously? Why would PS get it and higher societies not?

They announced it as part of the Q1 package later this year, I don't think it's actually in PS January allocation. FB shows PS got Or Xata and The Order allocated.
