But why? It's so weird to ask that!

Agreed, I love Pineal too. Might have to make the trek.

Has anyone ever had an experience making a reservation at the Ferm? When I go to a release with my wife we always just walk over to the BrewCafe for food because the wait is so long, but if I could time a res we might stay.

You have the ability to reserve a table through the Fermentaria section of the website.

Big allotments today (1 case of each beer) but very little buzz or hype. We'll see how that works out and I'm going to wait and see if I can try the maple IPA once it's behind the bar without lining up.

I agree that Eviscerated Pathway is a standout, by the way. The DIPA's are all fantastic recently.

I'm imagining the maple syrup beer is going to be in the same vein as Ardmorian.

Right now there is no line, about half a pallet of Pineal, and less Drone Standard but still dozens of cases.

Haven't been able to make it to a release in a long time. In line around 5:20 and out with my beer by 5:50. Extremely smooth, great beer they were sampling for free. I wish they were all this easy!

So how is the Drone Standard?

That was surreal! Arrived a little before 7, no line, not even one person in front of me. An empty room with a lot of beer. Called it!

Meanwhile, now that I'm sipping this Drone Standard I wish I was more daring and got more than one four pack because it's delicious. The maple is very faint, but it provides a kind of backbone to what would probably be fruitier otherwise. Best TH comparison would be High Road, but not as sherberty and a lower abv. It's good.

I'm getting zero maple on taste but strangely I'm getting a slight stickiness aftertaste on my lips. It's pretty good as far as a standard IPA goes but nothing groundbreaking or novel which for me is a good thing since I was worried this was gonna be a sweet mess.

Unless they killed the yeast and added the syrup post-fermentation, the sugar is going to ferment out.

If anyone recalls the Dogfish/Sierra Nevada collab from a while back (life and limb) that was an IPA with maple syrup and same thing - it was barely present and you wouldn't even notice unless someone said it was there.

This beer? I had a bottle of Batch 2 and while I agree the maple wasn't prominent,it was definitely more like a stout/brown ale, not an IPA.

If you add the maple syrup post the primary fermentation the sugars will indeed be consumed by the existing yeast but the aromatic compounds that we associate with maple syrup flavor will survive that process.

Needless to say but I have no idea what process Tired Hands employed here.

    Cheers!

I was commenting on his worry that the beer would "be a sweet mess", not the maple flavor.

I thought you were replying to his comment of "I'm getting zero maple on taste..."

It seems I was confused here.

    Cheers!

I personally could get a tiny bit of the maple as the beer warmed/opened up. It is extremely faint, and did sort of leave a slightly 'sticky' feeling on my palate. I am not sure if that is head games or what.

I also have to say that Big Hairy at the Brew Cafe was awesome. Breaking No New Ground was pretty tasty, too but I preferred Big Hairy by a wide margin.

This batch of Pineal is awesome. Went well with Run the Jewels last night.
