Not me personally, but I've never been to the bottle share + release to truly experience it. I always get my share on tap or score a bottle at the local shop. I like this beer, but I think it's overrated.

seems like a good time. Wonder why they don't release BASC at the same time

They do another release party for that one towards the end of the summer - my guess is that it is still sitting in the barrels right now.

The bottleshare the night prior and the morning of the release are a lot of fun...as for the beer, not as excited about that (not a bad beer at all, just not as difficult to get as it used to be and I will generally get some in distro).

The morning release or the shares on the street are the only ones worth while. The one the night before turned into date night since I used to go. Where people would bring Guinness etc. If I was there already I would just load up on the free apps. lol

Yeah, I have went to all of the shares for the last 3 years, but now with unlimited quantities and really being able to have just as good of a share with my friends, I probably will skip out and head over to the Wise Guys opening on Sat instead.

SC has never been my jam, but damn are the morning shares a ton of fun.

*Pro tip, dont ever get the sausage biscuits*

I 2nd the overrated post. Not sure what this is priced, but I'm sure it is overpriced based on hype alone. Have never truly been a big fan of any of their beers, but I appreciate their long history as a craft brewery here in NC.

I really don't get all the hype behind this beer. It's very bitter and thin (85 IBU), without any chocolate present. To me it just tastes like a Black DIPA. And it's definitely not worth $20 a bottle. Belongs in 6-pack with the rest of their line-up!

Another over hyped beer is Cold Mountain. What an awful, hoppy, thin Brown Ale with some color added to it!

I know some old school homers are going to hate. However this is not about history and how it was back then, when they first opened up. It's about now and it's about beer!

    Its $15 a bottle, not $20.

Additionally, while it might be cool to be ahead of the game on adding the adjunct of the month, there are plenty of breweries that dont do this at all and still make plenty of money and have plenty of fans.

There isnt hype behind the beer, its the share thats amazing.

Not many shares that are so intimate with so many of your friends and new people. Not often does a brewery open their doors give people food and let them party for 18 hours straight. Not many shares where someone will generously let you try Assassin and ask nothing in return.

With all of your complaining, you dont really sound like the type that would enjoy this sort of celebration anyways.

Come'on @c64person, don't you know it's more fun to gripe about a beer than it is to enjoy it?! Not a single person has hyped it, yet many say it's over-hyped. Color me confused.

(That said, Foothills does need to start doing some variants, fo real!)

How can anyone enjoy it when it tastes the way it does? It's called Sexual Chocolate, so it's normal to expect a thick, fudgy, chocolaty Imperial Stout, but what's inside is a mediocre, thin Black DIPA.

Enough people enjoy it to buy it all each and every year and rate it a 91 on this site, so I mean, it cant be the terrible beer you are saying it is.

The wonderful thing about craft beer is there is something for everyone, and if you dont like something, you dont have to drink it.

I'm quite fond of Sexual Chocolate and definitely don't taste black DIPA when I drink it, but it is priced too highly, especially after it hits distribution.

I never got black IPA from SC either, I enjoy it as a solid stout.

I don't think I've heard of anyone hyping SC. This release is all about the share for a lot of folks. The morning share and comraderie is one of the best around and for FREE. I don't have to buy any bottles. I don't have to buy food. I walk in and get a table with my friends and start cracking bottles. Then I go around the WHOLE restaurant full of beer nerds and share. Very few places will do this. This is was SC release is about. This is why we have a thread. Roll call time bitches.
