No one should be upset with Sosus. IMO it is TG's best IPA. Thats like going to a Tree House event and being able to "only" leave with some extra King Julius

 

Yeah, because several thousand dollars secondary value of unobtanium beer isn't enough.

 

Sosus is good stuff - I'll probably just grab one bottle while picking up my $200 box (rather than all 4). If I have the option to grab a DDH Sue or MoZee I'd go for one of each of those too - but it sounds like Sosus is the only option.

 

Am I crazy for thinking about lining up early at C&C tomorrow morning? I'd rather get there early than have to wait outside for spots to open up.

 

I get what you are saying but will not accept the travel and $$$ aspect. No one was forced to sign up for lottery and people that would be traveling absolutely knew how much it would cost if they won.

 

So, I'm not usually an alarmist about this, but road conditions on 52 south of Rochester don't appear to be great, according to MNDOT (ie partially covered with ice). We can't leave until tomorrow morning, and obviously cannot be late, soooo I'm mildly concerned about drive time from the twin cities. If anyone has made/will make the drive down there from the TC or Rochester today or tonight, and would be willing to give an update/assessment of road conditions and drive time, I would be very grateful. Nobody really knows. Tomorrow should easily be the biggest gathering of beer nerds in Decorah history. 2x the beer-focused crowd isn't an unreasonable guess. Rubyait will take a few 9am folks. T-Bocks will take a bunch, but the rest of those folks may generally know their chances by 8am or so and be faced with the decision to stay and hope or hit their next stop. Pulpit will be open (8 I think) and be pouring some beers that legitimately excite the same folks that frequent TG. Having said all that, it's not crazy. C&C has built a stellar reputation for these event days. But between all the other options and the 200 people at TG, you might get a little cold for no reason. Nobody really knows.

 

We just passed into Iowa on 52 South from Minneapolis on through Rochester, conditions aren't bad at all. Lots of snow blowing over the roads but not a whole lot of ice.

Roads in mpls are fine but once you're on your way to Rochester they are slushy and even icy in some parts. There was quite a bit of drifting snow.

What I'm saying is, don't drive like an idiot and you'll make it ok. It becomes single lane highway south of Rochester, FYI.

Yeah, at past C&C shares the turnout has't really peaked until around 11am-12pm. This go round is obviously a different animal, but there are also a lot more awesome, concurrent events going on. Maybe wishful thinking, but I don't think it'll be a madhouse right at 9am!

Other random note on the C&C bottle share:
There have been some questions about food. we serve a little, but you can bring food in. Old Armory BBQ (upstairs in the same building) will be doing a lunch special, $5 Pulled Pork Sandwiches for anyone who has a bottle share wristband! They're also graciously letting folks use their restrooms during the share (guessing the line down here will get lengthy.)

What is the deal with T-bock's assasin tapping at 9am tomorrow? Waitress just said tapping tomorrow and nothing about a ticket release.

 

First come first served for that tapping. All other events in town are ticketed.

I know there's a spreadsheet for this too - but I'd really like to see if I can get in on a Double Barrel Hunahpu or Beatification share somehow at C&C between roughly 12:30 & 1:30? I'll have these as options to share: 15 New Glarus R&D BBBB, 15 Rum King, 13 Darkness, 14 BA Darkness, 14 Steel Toe Before the Dawn. I'll keep an eye on my PMs too.
