Thinking about going to the Toer de Geuze in May, thought this could be a good spot to centralize and share info about the event. One item I am wondering about: anyone know of any good bus or shuttle tours that will be running for the weekend stopping among the different breweries? I saw Podge's has a 5-6 day tour that includes this weekend, but am hoping to find something to just include Sunday, or both Saturday and Sunday.

    Tilquin's event:

The tour itself has organized a choice of bus itineraries in recent years. They filled up quickly. (I probably shouldn't have said that before booking one for myself....) Dunno what the drill is this time. Anyone?

I don't think the list has gone live yet (or at least I cant find it anywhere). Does it just show up on the toer de geuze page on the HORAL website?

I'll be heading over around those dates, would be interested in just a single day out there. Does anyone know if that's possible?

I'm sure it must be. Toer itself is a one-day-er.

Gossip is that this will happen again. Bus routes and tickets via the HORAL website probably within the next couple weeks.

I think they had a fantastic success in 2015 partnering with the Lambikstompers, so that the busses had very knowledgeable volunteer guides. The pace of the HORAL buses is a little fast (quick tour of the brewery, quick taste of the lambic, move on to the next) without much time to sample additional beers at the locations but it was really nice to have an English speaking guide and reliable transit.

If we make it back this year, I'll probably just pick 2 stops and spend more time -- Tilquin had a really nice beer garden setup in the parking lot (tents, food, etc) and 3F had setup in the community center across the road from the brewery. Lindemans of all places had a really nice setup in their warehouse as well -- good catering and bounce castles for the kids.

That would be excellent news. HORAL website only mentions Sunday. And last time, Tilquin did have its own pre-festival on Saturday.

Has anyone been before? Planning to go this year and not sure what to expect. Are there shuttles going between breweries or just ticketed charter buses from tour groups?

It seems that "In de Verzekering tegen de Grote Dorst" is open until 10 pm on May 7th for the occasion instead of closing at 1:30. I've heard that's the place to go to try hard to find lambics. http://www.dorst.be/en/events

In the past, there's been a choice of bus routes among a selection of the breweries.

Dorst is just great. It'll definitely be a different atmosphere in the evening after this kind of event -- not the local-family vibe of a Sunday morning, but fun for sure.

Reactivated my BA account just to post in this thread. My better half and I just booked our travel specifically for this event. A few questions for those who have attended before:

Do the bus routes leave from Brussels or elsewhere? Also, is it better to make accommodations for the weekend in a nearby town or just stick it out in Brussels and take a bus/other transportation to the breweries.

Thanks in advance! Look forward to meeting some fellow BA'ers this summer.

Last two times I used the bus they left from two train station (Halle and Denderleeuw) and some parking lots (Dilbeek, Ternat,...). Best for you would be to use the one from Halle I think as it's only a short train ride away from brussels (10 min).

Stu Stuart's BelgiumBeerMe! Beer Tours has five-day tour, the Wild and Spontaneous Tour, that includes the Tour De Geuze. The tour also visits some other classics as well. Because it is very popular, it may be sold out, but you could check his website. He may be able to squeeze a couple more in.

Psyched to be going this year, two days should make it much more enjoyable.
Looking to find any special dinner /get together evening events Friday/Saturday/Sunday that anyone knows of.
