Sadly, their prices haven't really improved in cans. $7.50 = pass.

Bought a 4 pack of Metacomet. It is not good imo. Was extremely let down.

You may change your tune when you see that that didn't lower than price! 7 dollar cans are hard to swallow! Love their beer too but don't buy it anymore.

I know this is a slightly older comment, but...

I never understood the hate for Hooker beers. I always thought Liberator was a really solid Dopplebock, and there was a winter where I was all about Nor'Easter (having it on tap at a gig got me hooked on it. I think I had 6 of them that night. I wasn't driving.)

They used to make a great porter as well (i think it was a baltic) and the chocolate truffle stout is an interesting beer.

Imperial Porter is the brew your talking about. That and Liberator were always more than solid. Chocolate truffle not so much imo.

I've seen Liberator around and admittedly haven't had it in a while, but the Imperial Porter has been MIA I believe. I remember the days when that used to be bottled in a swing top.

I hear you. I wouldn't say people hate their stuff, ok beer geeks give them shit for the watermelon ale, but it pays the bills. I just think they have been content with their core lineup. Yeah, they came out with Defiance IPL, but for the most part they have been kind of quiet. I think it's great that they have decided to freshen things up to keep up w/ the times w/ Passport Pilsner, Belma Pale ale, and No Filter IPA, Lime Time Gose etc.

And for this thread in general: Where the hell is Founder's Imperial Stout?

Not sure if it's been mentioned but I'm finally seeing michigan maple jesus in windham county. $11.50 for 12oz dictates this being a one time purchase but the hype is real for my taste. We still haven't seen these new hooker beers though

Regarding the Hooker cans, I talked to the guy that owns the place I've been going to lately, and he said it's just the CT distributors playing their usual games. No one can figure out where it all went, but he thinks, like everything else, it went to all the big accounts.

When the Liberator and Imperial Porter were 1 L swingtops, those were different beers. The recipes were changed when Paul Davis left the brewery. I dont believe the Imp porter has been made anytime recently and rarely see the Liberator.

The Old Marley is still a decent english barleywine and in aging a few bottles now.

I also think the chocolate truffle is a pretty good malty brew.

Didn't a lot of people jump off the bandwagon when Paul left??

The Octoberfest recipe of Paul's was also one of the best American lagers I can recall drinking.
Hooker used to make some really incredible beer.
