I"m a fan of the Sisyphus tap room & they've made some great stuff, but The First Beer We Distributed was a miss for me, both as a beer & definitely as an "East Coast IPA". There was something odd going on in the beer that almost tasted like oxidation to me & detracted from the brew significantly. The mouthfeel was there, but the taste & "the look" were off base.

That said, I could taste a really good beer under there, so I'll give it another try if there are subsequent batches.

This leads me to think they had capping issues. Especially if they was their first experience bottling. (Have they sold bottles to the brewery before?) How did it sound when you opened the bottle?

That was my first thought as well, that the bottle/cap had been compromised. I wasn't paying much attention when I popped it open, so no help there.

I had a similar experience when I popped mine, didn't seem like a capping issue the bottle sounded just fine when I opened it, but it almost tasted soapy, a little medicinal. It tasted better as the beer warmed up, but it almost tasted like maybe the bottles still had cleaning agents in them or something. I'm a big fan of theirs so I'll attribute it to just being the first bottle run, hope that it's not a constant issue.

#@$&$##@#!?# Man, I'm sorry guys. We kept a case in house for QC and have been opening them daily since sending them out, and haven't seen that issue here, but a friend messaged me yesterday with similar comments about the beer. Seems like it is some of the bottles.

If you got a shitty bottle, bring it into the brewery for a free pint. Hopefully this just was intermittent capping issues we can fix for the next batch.

Owning a brewery is hard, btw

My first bottle I thought was pretty killer. I just got home from getting 2 more.. Hopefully no issues with them. Keep up the good work!

Shit happens. Nice offer and good on you for offering compensation even though you are small! You can avoid negative reputation issues by confronting them head-on like this. Wouldn't hurt to put it out there on FB and/or twitter if you think the issues are wide spread enough that more people than us beer knerds would benefit from knowing about it. Not my most well-constructed thoughts, but I'm tired.. what can I say.

A buddy in MN just sent me three "NE IPA" offerings from Forager in Rochester. Decent, Haka and Cloudy Daze. All were great but the Haka really stood out to me, a juicy Nelson and Moteuka hopped DIPA. I would definitely recommend checking them out.

Would definitely recommend announcing on Facebook, a few friends said they also had some off flavors (I don't if this is any relevance but we all got it from zipps, so presumably the same line of bottles that were off?) who would've been off of ya'll had I not mentioned this to 'em.

Having a Batch 100 now @ 3 Squares. It's good, but not exactly "NE".

Couldn't agree more... Haka is in my top tier of DIPAs... It's not on now, but their Session IPA (Shag) is 100% worth checking out when it comes back on. It's fun getting to enjoy their stuff now while its low key - b/c I gotta feeling things are going to happen to this place.

Forager is going to explode in the next year. I had some Moon Hops yesterday. So, so, so good.
