Chicagoland NE IPAs (2018)

If you guys have the chance to grab some of this, do it. I'm so glad I decided to get two crowlers instead of one!

 

Agreed. Wish I would've grabbed one more of the regular. I grabbed one of the Gummy and one Peach. The Gummy was phenomenal. The Peach tasted great in the small sample I had from a friend, but I am worried that it might overpower what a great beer the Gummy is on its own.

In any case, I'm very glad I was able to re-route my errands through Lombard today....even if it meant a slightly unhappy wife.

 

Got off with only having to pick up pet food and having to hit up Home Depot for tile.

 

Got to Noon Whistle tonight right before last call. I bought 2 crowlers of Peach and 1 of Funny Gummy. Cracked one of the peaches and I am damn impressed. The smell is dank natural peach flavors, it is mouthwatering. I'm enjoying the hell out of it.

Seemed like there was plenty. I'm sure both will still be on tap tomorrow.

 

They did an awesome job on these. Taking a sip of Funny Gummy is like biting right into a fresh grapefruit.

 

Noon whistle cane out swinging. I preferred the peach variant because it cut the bitterness 100%. Lefta subtle peach flavor. Definitely a fan.

 

Noon whistle is a really nice brewery. They make a bunch of really pleasant little beers. And then, every once in a while, they show off and make something for the beer geeks

 

think im going in again today for another crowler. loved both variants.

 

I'll definitely stop by on lunch tomorrow for another crowler, this stuff is on point!

Also, I had another Morning Fog after I said that I thought it was falling off - it definitely is. It's becoming more clear (which is weird), and the original juice bomb body is no longer there.

On another note, I've been having so many of these Midwest NE Style IPAs lately that I forgot how well stocked the back of my hops section in my fridge is. I popped open a Navaja a few minutes ago and it's making me forget about the NE Style (at least for tonight)

 

I feel you. I've been giving 2-3 extras on trades lately because of holiday season beer releases. My fresh fridge and aging fridge are both running out of room, and if I can give beer as an extra to somebody who will enjoy it as much as me, that's a win in my book.

 

Since I wasn't a fan of Mellotron or Reply Hazy, I decided to sit on a four pack of each to see if they got better for me. I hated fresh Mellotron, and opening one last night was even worse - I drain poured it. Reply Hazy still tasted the same to me, and still not a fan unfortunately. Here's to the next batch of NE Style IPA's to release to see if I like them as much as Morning Fog/Juice is Loose/Funny Gummy

 

So cracked open a reply hazylast night. Holy crap, it looked like an entirely difference beer. There was no haze, and that delicious light grapefruit bite I got when I first had was gone. So unfortunate.

 

I know this is a couple weeks old, but the Marz CHI-PA was much more enjoyable for me out of the bottle. I believe they tweaked the recipe, which was much less grapefruit-y than the tap version.

I totally agree with you on this. The Funny Gummy was similar to the CHI-PA in that it's fairly grapefruit-forward, which isn't my jam. But adding the peach really cut the bitterness and I really enjoyed that version. I took a crowler of that home.

 

I opened my last Reply Hazy yesterday. Absolutely no haze even after rolling the can, and the beer itself tasted completely different. Now I understand any beer is going to be a little different 18 days after its been canned, but god damn this wasn't anything like the other 3 I enjoyed fresh.

 

This is 12/21 Stratus still drinking nicely. Just posted on the WBAYDN thread....

 

Agreed here. Having one now and it's basically the same as lizard king. My wife and I are finishing off my last 6 cans tonight.

 

Interesting - I had morning fog last night and it was still as good as I remember it being fresh.
