Good morning BA, have a great Monday! I got today off for MLK day, but I will still be working from home to finish some projects I need done by Wednesday for work. I am way too busy the last few weeks.

Amazing American porter as always. Flavors of milk/dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, caramel, toasted dark bread, and light nutty/smokey malts; with some floral/piney hops. Moderate pine/roast bitterness; with a great creamy/silky and lightly sticky/chalky balanced mouthfeel. Lightly drying. I slightly prefer the Great Lakes over this rating-wise, but you can't go wrong with either for a classic style representation. I still buy both of them just nearly equally as often.

Amazing DIPA! Glad I keep finding more singles of this. Flavors of tangerine, grapefruit, pineapple, peach, apricot, mango, papaya, lemon zest, orange peel, light pepper, and pine hops; moderate honey, light caramel, and lightly toasted biscuit malt sweetness; and herbal, floral, grassy hop earthiness. Moderate pine, citrus rind, and peppery/spicy bitterness on the finish. Medium-plus bodied; balanced sticky/resinous hops and grainy/bready malt creaminess in the mouthfeel. Increasingly drying resin finish; minimal hop astringency. Just flat out incredible. Insanely bright and dank on hops; nice malt backbone without being sweet. Nice mix of earthy, citrusy, and tropical hop varieties.

Still tasting amazing. Flavors of coconut, vanilla, spiced rum, milk chocolate, cocoa, caramel, toffee, brown sugar, toasted dark bread, oak, and light molasses/coffee. Light roast bitterness and rum/oak spice on the finish. Full-ish bodied; nicely creamy/silky in the mouthfeel; with some light sticky/chalky roast, and a touch of roasted dryness. Lightly warming finish; no barrel booziness in the flavors; but there is a bit in the aromas as it warms. Very smooth, rich, and complex. Lots of coconut and rum, but still very well balanced with the base beer. Glad I bought a lot of these. Probably my favorite variant they released so far.

2015 is tasting amazing as usual. Huge flavors of caramel, raisin, cherry, fig, date, apricot, apple, toffee, brown sugar, brown bread, bourbon, and toasted oak; with light notes of molasses, vanilla, and coconut. Balancing bourbon/oak spiciness on the finish against the sweetness; minimal warming or barrel booziness. Very smooth sipping; with a very creamy, silky, and slightly slick/syrupy full body mouthfeel. Love this the most after at least 1 year of age to smooth out the boozy barrel notes. This is nearly perfectly balanced between malt, barrel, and fruity yeast notes right now. Still some more packs on the shelf at the moment, even with the new 2016's around. Already bought more a few weeks ago, I was down to 1 bottle in the whole cellar. Been drinking this too often I guess.

Since I'm going to be spending most of today in the basement, figured I'd get in an early breakfast down here.

Breezy, overcast skies should clear, rendering another beautiful day in the mid 70s. Nothing exciting otherwise going on...have a great day y'all!

A rinse of the glass, and switching gears to a local cult favorite - Straight to Ale's Unobtanium.

Still puzzled about the choice to go cans this year.

Great from a consumer standpoint since the bombers were about the same price as a four pack... You would have thought the bombers were more profitable for the brewery.

It's always been a favorite of mine. If you enjoy barrel aged old ales, I think it will be right up your alley.

They do the same base in cognac barrels called Illudium which is also outstanding.
