Went out for a meal had an IPA which was off, replaced it with Flying Dog IPA which tasted perfumy like Red Stripe, awful. Taylors Landlord to the rescue.

I'm sat drinking it now, it's a good beer. Little bit thicker than the normal but otherwise not massively different. I asked the bartender about bottles he said only from the brewery direct.

Went to Buxton tap house before and had the cloudberry IPA and jalapeño and cacao rain shadow. Both good.

Last night picked up from heaton hops an omnipollo anagram, cloudwater dipa 10 and cloudwater and magic rock Big Dipper. Had the Big Dipper last night and it was awesome, the one blonde beer I had after it tasted like nothing compared to it.

A buxton delivery has made this easier to read!

Currently back home in the States. Enjoying some fantastic, local, BA stouts. Central Waters and Tyranena are often overlooked and underrated. If you ever come across them, give it a go. You won't regret it. Traded some Cantillon and 3 Fonteinen for a Surly Darkness, Clown Shoes Itasca Loonidragon, and Central Waters 18. Really looking forward to a great Christmas. Also have a BA Old Rasputin Wheat.

Well if you got the case with the yellow belly sundae then you can be happy knowing I wasn't able to get hold of that one!

I love this, a saison that really appeals to the seasoned bitter drinker, no pun intended

Yellow Belly 2015. Yeah best not to age this one. Still decent though.

I have a 2015 still. What happened to it? I had to pleasure of drinking a Buxton BA Rain Shadow last night, fantastic beer. I also had a local from my US reserves. 2013 Central Waters BB Stout. It aged incredibly well and I'd put it up against the best BB Stouts in the world. Unfortunately, I don't have another to that. I have a stock of 2014, 2015, 2016 that I can leave around though.

Still smells as good as before ageing but has lost some punch and depth.

Hope everyone had a good crimbo/winterval

I forgot that I always stop at Tebay services on the way down to wales so picked up some crafty cans like Hawkshead IPA, Wild Beer Madness IPA, a few cannonballs because cannonball and some bottles - Allendale Export Stout and a few others. Also had a few bottle conditioned bitters (variable) from welsh micros down there as well as a couple of pints of cask Grey Trees which was pretty solid. Oh and a lot of Brains Rev James (ok), Bitter (bit lacking) and stout (I prefer guinness)

Not doing much for NYE but had a lovely few pints of Harvey's Best watching the football in the Express Tavern earlier.

Drinking Verdant's Roy I Want a Hilux. A murky, intensely fruity pale ale. Quite nice, just lacking a little bite and slightly over carbonated. Really been impressed by their offerings so far though. Their session IPA was probably one of the nicest of that style I've had.

Anybody else discovered impressive new breweries in the past few months?

Not tried any new breweries in ages

Having an Allendale brewed for M&S Summit IPA. Not bad, more pale ale at 4.8% tho

Shame that but it happens! Drinking through my out of date Guinness, at least it never really goes off. Puts me in mind for some decent cask beer though.

I saved last nights session with a bottle of Harvey's Christmas Ale I've had stored since June and a Beavertown/Caravan Roastery 'Spresso. Both very good but I feel I should have left the 'Spresso a little bit longer. The good side of having to move out of my flat due to no job is getting to drink up all the imperial stouts I bought in the summer.

Heard a LOT of good things about Odyssey Brew; so I'm keen to try some of its offerings. On that note, very much the same for Verdant!

Fierce Beer probably the newest kids of the block I've had a couple from - Cafe Racer Bourbon BA (very good) & Day Shift (pretty good). Will be seeking more from them I reckon.

I've seen a few people post about them on Instagram but I'm yet to see either in a pub or shop sadly. Deya are another to watch out for. I had their Steady Rolling Man and it was very nice.

Another cellar bottle bites the dust, Buxton's Single Barrel Aged Rain Shadow, which is amazing as you'd expect. Like a sort of incredible chocolate fruit cake. Big with booze but not too sickly, the bitterness and carbonation is just spot on to avoid that.
