Monkish Brewing (January 2017)

Gotta hit up the East Coat bros first and see how much haze they can get for a farmhouse ale. Not sure what the exchange rate is right now. They may just use the dollar-to-pound scale.

 

No surprise in the comments on IG already. People looking to make deals for four bottles of it (limit is two). They saw there were only 430 and the now demand's going to be through the roof on exclusivity alone.

 

I'm actually surprised it didn't go out to the pre-sale group first

I made an all grain hazy IPA using El Dorado hops.

I liked it so much that i want to tweak the recipe a little bit and try Galaxy Hops.

Sorry for any confusion. I am doing this for fun. Soft bottle releases to some friends and IG followers. Dont want to get any legal trouble with the ABC.

Doubt they'll sell out that fast - case in point, when they had bottle pickups ready during some of the IPA releases, at most the pre-sale line would be about 12 people against the several hundred waiting for their cans. Another great example was hearing a haze bro talking about how he traded cans for a sour not knowing that Monkish makes really good ones on their own.

While you're probably correct that it won't sell out that fast, I am not sure you can compare a pre-sale with a month-long pick-up window to a flash bottle sale.

It probably won't be as crazy as the cans, but I'd expect it to be worse than picking up pre-sales across a month span.

saw that as well, was pretty stoked. AFAIK hes always been local, used to see him every so often skating Veterans Park. Along somewhat related lines, Wee Man shows up at WIlhal skate park in Wilmington pretty often. Why? i haven't a clue

 

Yep, pretty sure Daewon is a South Bay local. WeeMan owns the Chronic Taco in Redondo Beach, seen him there (naturally) the few times I've been there.

 

I knew he lived in Torrance. Just didn't know he was into craft beer. One more reason why he's the best

A buddy of mine worked for DVS, got these skate Daewon skate decks that are like 12" long and 3-4" wide.

That is epic you got to skate with him.

 

I've been paying attention to this segment of craft beer for a while. I can say with certainty that it isn't hazy IPA's that have brought out the worst in the community. Before this, it was Mexican chocolate stouts, before that, fruited sours, and so on and so forth. The common thread here is that the releases are small, and the FOMO is strong with those that show up. These releases are like iPhones and Jordans, the end result is essentially simple minded folks measuring each other's dicks.

Hazy IPA's have brought out the worst in breweries though in my opinion.
