Heading to the B's game on Friday, looking for a spot to grab some good beers and decent food before the game. My usual spots are Halftime Pizza, The Fours, Hurricanes, McGanns, and The Harp, but I'm tired of seeing the same old beers.

    Any suggestions?

Boston Beerworks should give you a decent assortment. I think they have the Big Boy IPA which is a decent double.

Bound to find something decent @ Beerworks - 1 of their 16 beers offered should be good for you (Contender IPA always works for me). Just be sure to get there around 5-ish, otherwise you'll never get a seat.

My other go-to pre Garden is Porter's on Portland St. Decent enough draft selection and good food.

sounds like you know the area better than I do already but if it slipped by your radar, I've pretty consistently found Be Hoppy at The Harp (a quick untapped search just confirmed as well). Go Bs!

Ginger Man and Tip Tap room are both within a 10-15 minute walk or so.

The Tavern is good, but the Tip Tap room often has some excellent choices. Much of their stuff is limited edition and as such can be a bit pricey (sours, imperial stouts etc...). Ginger Man is also good, though a bit further away. I don't know how crazy the Tip Tap gets before games. The Harp and the place next to it both have Be Hoppy, which is such a better offering than you will find inside.

Ginger Man would be perfect, but looks like they have an event with Boulevard/Firestone that night, which I'd love to go to, but starts a little before the game.

I gotta say... not a fan of Be Hoppy at all. My palate may have been messed up by the other beers I had the last time I tried it, so I may have to give it another shot.

Others include Saus (belgian frites and usually some cool taps) and the Tap Trailhouse. Had some really good meals there, tap list is typically decent but not mindblowing. Good for a Jacks Abby or two.

Last B's game I hit (~2-3 years ago) we did up the Kinsale near Govt Center... Had a solid list then... unsure now... Oh, to have the old Commonwealth Brewing still in business!!!

    Prosit!!

I think Ducali has a pretty decent tap list as well.

Pro tip: Check out the beer garden on the 3rd level of the Garden, they have much better stuff and it's cheaper than the swill at most of the vendors. Though the situation in general is much improved since the garden was renovated.

Atlantic Ave is a clusterfuck at rush hour. If I had parking down there I'd leave the car there and take the T up to the Garden, rather than sit in traffic then pay garden parking prices.

I enjoy Porter's. Good grub and they always seem to have Hopback Amber on tap, a nice go-to.

I used to go to a lot of games at the garden. Our move was always to park in a lot next to Back Bay station that was $7 after 5pm, go to the Salty Pig for dinner/drinks and then hop on the orange line a few stops. Made parking easy/cheap and we always had good food and drinks before games.
