I only remember because when I was sitting at the tap room, I figured that would've been the first thing to kick but the nitro did instead. I was even more shocked the next morning they were posting about still having some for anyone that wanted to show up that night too. Goes to show they're doing it right and having enough of the limited draft only stuff to satiate the demand.

Event starts at 5, so thinking it won't be "crazy" until after 6, people flood in after work. Getting there between 4-5 seems optimal.

Any updates on how things are going at the release? I'm trying to live vicariously while finishing up a couple work projects tonight. :slight_frown:

Was there right at 5. Free food and some awesome barrel aged beer is definitely worth the time. Personally, the VSOJ was mind blowing.....aged two years in old forester barrels. That alone was worth it. The base 2017 straight jacket was awesome, and I also grabbed a bottle of 2012 straight jacket to go. Granted this was around 6pm.

    Cheers

I don't want to cause a stir, but did anyone else have a bad reaction to the food? Was up a lot of last night and I went to bed sober (so the various fluids leaving me were not of that influence). It was all I consumed between lunchtime and sleep.

With that said, the food was delicious and I would go through what I went through, again. The sausage with that gravy was so rich. Mashed potatoes were classic. The dessert was so rich, I got through about half of mine. It perfectly complimented the VSOJ.

VSOJ was better than Uncalled Four and Totally Uncalled Four, my favorite rev BA beers. Nitro Straight Jacket was delicious, but last year they did a coffee nitro that was out of this world. I hate to be this way, but Mindshaft is not my buddy. This sucks, because I remember waiting ages for the last time they did Mindshaft and I had the same reaction. Warmed up, it is much better. Lots of grape, apple, and pear come through. Next year, it would be cool for them to do another draft variant, like Deth by Cherries. Blueberry straight jacket? S'mores Straight Jacket!

Haven't been over the tap room in a while, so it was great to finally try this year's Deth's Tar. Not as easy drinking as last year's, but that hopefully means the bottles I got will be extra delicious next year. After having Cafe Deth the last two times, prior to bottling, I'm excited to drink my bottle.

VSOJ was phenomenal. 2017 regular Straight Jacket, also phenomenal. I ate that delicious food and drank those top notch beers all night. I went to bed not sober.

Word is 2012 bottles are gone across both locations. Was at tap room and they opened with none. Friend just called brewpub and was told sold out there too. VSOJ was a best in show BA BW- so buttery and well balanced with the barrel. Mineshaft Gap tasted immediately after was much fruitier, but lighter. Both excellent.

Shouldn't have an issue finding someone to do something $4$. There are still cases of last year's at a lot of places.

For some reason this beer sticks around for a while which is strange to me. Recently, some friends and I did a blind BA Barleywine tasting, and this was ranked number one by all 3 of us. We had most of the highly regarded ones in the lineup that fly off the shelf, and this one was far superior to the rest.

I've heard similar stories . . . Maybe I can get a 15 and 16. Thanks for all the info everyone.

Brewery location is sold out of 2012. Bought one at the brewpub a couple hours ago. Loved Mindshaft Gap last time it was on but VSOJ tops that one for me!
The Chalkboard at the brewery had similar renditions of extra aged Gravedigger Billy and Very Mad Cow, for those interested, as coming up very soon. Didn't snap a pic so I don't recall the dates of each.

Just curious where you still see last years version on shelves. It was great...haven't tasted this year yet.

Not sure if they still have it, but I remember seeing a bunch at west lakeview liquors a month or so ago. I've also seen it at quite a few different corner stores with small craft beer selections, but can't think of any by name off the top of my head.
