That's interesting, KS tastes closer to JIL to me (in that they're both single-hopped citra beers as far as I know). KS has a little more bitterness than I like (especially in comparison to Heady, where I get very little), but that's similar to how I feel about canned PS.

My guess is that bottled PS is basically a lighter version of KS (I've only had cans). Hazy (from what I've seen) and softer mouthfeel than canned PS. I think canned PS is one of the better citra-hopped beers that I can get in the area, but I certainly don't think it's amazing. I'll usually buy it if I have a citra craving. I'd also love to try the double-dry-hopped version of PS; I bet that's fantastic.
Good, I assumed KS would make its way here, but wasn't sure when. I'm still curious if KS will make it to the field museum, or if they will always exclusively carry PS.

Had the DDH Pseudo Sue last night and its phenomenal. Completely blew me away. I am looking forward to trying King Sue as Ive never had it, and maybe Im in the minority, but I like canned sue just fine and will be happy to have it available here. I do hope they eventually start sending more of their bombers over i.e. Pompeii and Sosus.

King Sue let me down slightly, as it was hyped up as the most amazing beer ever. It's great, and I'll buy it whenever I can, but it's not something that I'd trade the farm for. I think the canned PS is excellent; it just also suffers from TG's overhype.

Funnily enough, the bombers I've had didn't blow me away (Sosus, Pompeii and...light...speed? or something). They're excellent, but don't stand out to me, since I've had some great mosaic-hopped beers (Sosus and Pompeii both being mosaic).

I really like fresh Mosaic - it was one of the first IPAs I really liked and Ive never lost that. Ive heard good things about Sosus, and look forward to trying it.

Oh yeah, me too; mosaic is the Will Riker of hops to me (2nd only to Captain Picard's citra). Sosus is great, don't get me wrong (I think I prefer it to Pompeii, but it's been awhile). It's just not going to change (I don't think) the way you think about beer. As long as you enjoy it for what it is, I'm sure you'll really like it. My basic point is that coming into these beers with the expectation that it's going to ruin you for anything else is setting yourself up for failure.

I'm sure that as TG settles into IL, we'll get stuff like Sosus. The DDH stuff is what I'm really hoping makes its way here.

PS is a great beer, just to malty/sweet for my tastes these days. People who haven't had access will be happy. That being said, when we start getting the TG hoppy one off bombers, we will have an embarrassment of riches. Those things are as good as anyone is making.

Yeah, there's an argument to be made that we're reaching the saturation point for the number of good hoppy beers in the Chicagoland area. I'm not saying they should stop coming, but I'm definitely having trouble drinking them all!

Will be happy to have something like PS on the shelf as an option. And I, for one, think SOSUS is a great beer. It doesn't change the game, or anything, but it's really f'in good.

Welcome to the Iowa vs. Florida debate Illinois. My only question is how the hell did you all get out of getting Dorothy's? Is it because they couldn't use the word "popular" in their announcement then?

Oh we've had the debate already. See the picture of the can of PS vs. the bomber a page or so back.

I will fight people for King Sue and Sosus. Pseudo Sue as well if it's the Decorah version (assuming it's Florida, at least until the new place is open).

Once they open their bigger facility, they'll be able to distribute even more goodies.

Perfect. When they hit, I'll trade you Sosus for the cans of FL PS and the occasional KS bomber. Deal? :grinning:

I know. I had a Navaja at my buddy's place last week, and I wondered why I was wasting time with other stuff, especially mid-tier NE IPA's, when between Navaja and NvU it really doesn't get that much better.

That's part of the reason I don't need Sosus or similar beers. Not saying Sosus is worse, I just really don't need it since Navaja is fine for my mosaic fix.

I really enjoy the canned PseudoSue I know its not as good as the bottled stuff but I have a friend who lives in Milwaukee and he would bring me a case at a time. I would sell off some to co-workers but I always kept 2 4 packs in my fridge. I like it better than Zombie Dust and Brickstone APA. It was nice to have an easy drinking Pale on hand.

It's also cool that they can charge a similar price for a bomber of Sue as a 4 pack shipped in from Florida. It's always refreshing when brewers understand the bomber and 4 pack pricing dynamics...

Not really sure why people are comparing something like King Sue to NE IPAs, the taste profiles are completely different IMO. It's a phenomenal beer because of the balanced flavor profile (at least, IMO). With how crazy the beer scene has gotten I guess people prefer all of the aggressive profiles out there now instead of the balanced amazingness.

I guess if a beer doesn't have "NE" or "barrel aged" anywhere on the label it's played out now.
