Anything specific that has been exceptional lately?

Hit up Masthead Brewing last night, they just opened tuesday. It was a cool place, tons of room inside. They only have 6 beers of theirs on tap currently. The blonde and wit were ok but forgettable, the coffee stout was very solid (I picked up a crowler of that to go), the winter stout was an absolute cinnamon bomb. I love cinnamon but this was almost too much even for me. I didn't get to try the regular stout, but their IPA was also solid. Very dank in my opinion. Overall I'll probably check it out again once they have more stuff, but I wouldn't necessarily get food again. The pizza was solid but unspectacular. They also had cheese stuffed cherry peppers that were good, but 4 bouncy ball sized cherry peppers for $8 is extremely steep in my opinion.

    Thanks for the review @neelonjm

How was the beer carbonation? Saw a few reviews note some were quite undercarbonated for the style.

Debating about stopping in the next week or two... But man, the past few new places around the area have been disappointing and I'm getting sick of new lackluster breweries.

Went to Avon Brewing last weekend and got the King Kokonut Porter, which is always solid. The service was surprisingly lackluster, although it was my first time getting a table vs sitting at the bar. Our server said the kitchen was so backed up that he wasn't even going to take our order...so we had to wait about 15-20 more minutes before we could even put in our order. My burger was way overcooked but he didn't come to our table until about 30 minutes after we got our food so I ate because I was too damn hungry. He said he would take 10% off my burger ($1), which I guess is better than nothing haha.

I'll be checking out Masthead tomorrow and I'm looking forward to it. I don't know what time I'm going so I might not order food.

I honestly didn't even think about the carbonation, which means it must have been what I expected because nothing jumped out at me. One thing I did like about the place was they had two sections at the bar, kind of like an in and out area where you can go order food or drinks, or growlers/crowlers. No one can sit there, so you don't have to worry about having to hover over someone or reach over someones shoulder when the bar is full.

Seriously?!?! 10% off your burger? That's ridiculous. With the sound of that experience, that should have been on the house.

I've only sat at the bar there and the service was awesome, but that's a different scenario. Plus, we were there at like 4 pm on a Saturday afternoon. The buffalo chicken dip was delicious (but it is tough to screw that up) and the portion size was very good for the price.

Yep, when I've gone to the bar I had great food and service. I'll probably do that again next time I go there.

When I went there last weekend it was around 7 on a Saturday night and it was pretty busy...but the whole idea of telling a customer you're NOT going to do something is never a wise decision. I had just caught a cold and wasn't really in the mood to talk to a manager and prolong the experience, so I just paid my bill and took off. I should never listen to servers when they tell me if I want a burger cooked medium, they'll cook it medium. Never happens! I should have gone with the BBQ chicken sandwich I ordered when I sat at the bar. That was really good. Oh well, lesson learned!

Try getting a medium rare burger. I haven't had one of those, outside the confines of my home, in some time.

A lot of new places I want to ge to, Avon brewing being one of them. But I can't seem to find the motivation anymore; Fat Head's is too easy, and to be frank, hard to beat.

I've had a legit medium rare burger at Buckeye Beer Engine multiple times.

I stick to cooking my own red meat. Can not tell you how many times I have been to a fancy steak house and my wife orders the steak and then tells me how I make it better at home. Well for the price we pay at those places I could have made her 3! I always go seafood at the fancy spots.

Now back to beer. I have to say that Jackie O's Barrel aged Coffee and Vanilla Dark App may be my favorite beer from them and the fact I was able to pick a bottle up on my way home from work this week made it all the sweeter! Loving the barrel program expansion!

A few actually, guess I should have mentioned them haha. Wunderkammer, Hell Broth, Space Tiger, Jerk Bird and ProCATStination have all been either really good or amazing! Love this brewery and they do much better than DinoS'mores IMO.

I have a ProCATStination in my fridge...where does that lie on the really good / amazing spectrum in your opinion?

Stopped by Mother Stewart in Springfield yesterday afternoon. Highly recommended - good beer, friendly staff and neat building. Very family friendly too.

At Masthead right now... Must admit, pretty impressive so far. Better than expected.

IPA is a fantastic take on west coast IPA. Floral, citrus and pine... Softer carbonation, but overall very good. Aroma and flavor is quite intense. Tasty.

The Blonde Ale was impressive. A lot of noble hop character, which I like.

The Wit was very good. Wish it had a bit more carbonation, but it was solid overall.

Stout was OK. One of my least favorite the bunch. The coffee variation was better for sure. The spiced Stout was intense, but tasty. I think the lighter beers overall were more impressive.

Healthy crowd and cool space and energy. Overall, one of the better new breweries I have been to in Cleveland. Impressed overall!

I may be behind the curve on this, but I stopped by Market District today to pick up some White Rajah, and realized, they don't have any Brew Kettle beers whatsoever. I never noticed this before, as I usually shop ACME for basic six packs, but, does the Eagle not carry TBK?
