Smog City Appreciation

Actually I think @ComradePalmer is the one that is confused.

 

The clarification I got today is that the base beer for Wishes is The Nothing minus the coco nibs.

Looks like we were the ones confused after all, thinking that unbarrel aged Infinite Wishes was The Nothing

 

Went yesterday to pick up my IW bottles and had some on draft. Tasting really, really good right now.
Never thought I'd see the day that bottles of Infinite Wishes would be sitting in the fridge.
I guess no adjuncts means it sits.

 

Nice, I'll be picking up mine this afternoon. Will grab more Bottles for my out of state friends. I like IW, but I actually like the OE bourbon more than IW.

Wonder how IW '16 is tasting now adays? Still have 2 left.

 

IW '16 is ridiculous right now. I opened a bottle last weekend. Glad I still have one more.

 

Just to chime in - got a pour of IW '15 on bottle release day - my god, that beer is drinking insane right now. Might be one of the best pours of a BA stout I've ever had. Sadly they didn't have any '16 pouring when I was there though.

 

And the down side of this is?

Honestly, nothing makes me happier these days than when excellent local beers fly under the radar and people have the opportunity to buy some outside of a 60 second online sale, or *gasp* buy more days or weeks later.

IW has been consistently excellent, 2017 is no exception, buy it while you can.

 

Finally picked my bottles up today and have nothing to add that hasn't already been said. Such a solid BA beer

 

Down side for us, the consumer? Absolutely none.
But I'm sure the brewery was hoping their big release (flag ship beer?) would sell out so it wasn't taking up space in their fridges.
And it could just be that with ALL the space that Smog has now, they've upped batch sizes. I think they are up to at least 3 warehouses now right?

 

IW is an excellent ba stout. Completely under hyped. Would love to see variants of this beer next year.

Edit: I think IW is the chocolatiest BBA I've ever had and would be great with vanilla and coffee like ground state but even more chocolate notes!

 

I agree with this.

I was in there Saturday and this year's batch is ridiculously good already. I feel like people are going to be mad that they missed out. Or maybe they just did make a ton this time and that's why there are leftover. Either way, I'm happy I got my bottles without any fuss.

 

Looks like they have a meeting with City Council tomorrow. For any locals who are available, Smog City is looking to make additions to their building (an outdoor patio was mentioned). Might be worth going to for moral support

 

I have concerns that the people on the patio may catch a glimpse of the debauchery going on in the Monkish parking lot
