Oops, I forgot I had that beer hidden there!

Haha yea..at times I leave it in the car and bring it in after letting the dog in the garage for the evening and take it down and come up with a beer for the evening. Also use partial cash/card at times. She hates it when I refer to a "good deal" when talking about a $15 beer that I nabbed for $13.
Closest I've come to losing a beer is I left a Viking Blod at my in laws and keep forgetting to open at a family gathering there. I know it's there tho.

 

I had to fix the toilet lever chain the other day, and I found a can of Duff I'd placed in the toilet well a while back.

I'm disappointed in all of you that it took so long for one of us to find such a beer.

 

No but I have bought KBS explicitly for the purpose of aging…and forgot to age it. thats kinda the same thing right?

 

Not forgotten but overlooked (taken for granted?) was the Sierra Nevada Pale Ale I picked up while shopping last weekend. What I had forgotten is how much I like this old standby.

 

I'm sure there are a bunch of bottles in my cellar I forgot about. I have a few rows that I constantly rotate, drink, trade, etc. but some rows don't get looked at much unless I'm bringing a bunch of stuff to share. I tend to rush my purchases, trade deliveries, etc. down there ASAP so my wife doesn't get too interested on how much I buy, trade, or spend.

 

My dad has had a bottle of 2008 Brooklyn Black Chocolate Stout in his fridge since 2008. I don't know if its been "forgotten," per se, but for all intents and purposes it might as well have been. I think it's a case of looking at something so often that you no longer see it.

 

My knee-jerk reaction was no, but then I remembered I threw a bottle of Abyss '14 into one of the Dark Lord 4-packs I had, and for some reason forgot that the black wax bottle in the 4-pack wasn't DL (which had a blue wax that year). Long story short, 6 or 8 months later I remembered I had a bottle of Abyss, but could not for the life of me figure out whether I traded it, shared it, or still had it.

 

I've never had enough store-bought beer in the house at one time that losing track of it would ever be an issue. On the other hand I have tried to forget some less than stellar homebrews that just kept staring me in the face. A couple of those actually improved enough over the course of a year that I was glad I hadn't give them the deep 6.

 

I forgot about a couple of bottles of Velvet Merkin I had stored in the garage fridge for a little over a year.

 

Yep. Changed cellering spot. Found a couple vanilla noirs and a project Pam last week.

 

Ehh, never like OP mentioned, but I did buy three beers on an outing: Goliat BA, Stone's Smoked Porter, and a Founder's Imperial Stout. Now I know I enjoyed the other two, I'm just not sure where the FIS ended up. I have several from last year in my basement (this was about 6 months after the 2016 release), but I don't think the random FIS ended up down there. I thought about drinking it in the summer, but had so many fresh IPAs that I figured I'd wait until a cool fall day. Fall passed and I still haven't had any FIS since last January/February. I wonder where I put it....

 

Since my "cellar" is a couple of shelves in my friends actual cellar, I often go to grab something when I'm over there, and find something that makes me ask myself "when did I buy that?", and I can often answer by reading the date on the label. A couple months ago I discovered I actually have a complete set of B-Bomb, and all but 3 years of Abyss.

 

It's when you start finding empties in coffee pots and such that you know somebody's messing with you!

 

Several years back we sent a newbie out for beer and he came back with a case of Keystone Light...We would sneak it into each others garage or closets as a joke for years, as far as I know it's still out there somewhere.

 

I have never hidden beers (my wife doesn't drink it and most anyone I invite over winds up being drawn to the bourbon/scotch in my bar or dinging my "cocktail time" bell to let me know duty as the host calls) but I'm in the same boat as the poster above...it's amazing what you find when you pack all your stuff up, but even more when you unpack it.

I only remembered buying two bottles of BA bomb, found six. Also thought I drank all of my CW cassian sunset and BBA scotch ale and I found two of those and a cassian...and then there was the wine. Dear lord I had a lot more than I remembered...and seeing as we were moving cross country in the winter my wife became aware of all of this amassed liquor-as it had to accompany us cross country in the car (had 10 cases total...so the entire car) or risk getting ruined by Mother Nature during shipping (or costing a small fortune to temp control ship). That was a difficult one to talk my way out of...thank his I had a lot of wine to force feed her!

 

Anyone toss a beer in your car's glove compartment and forget to take it inside for a few days? Guilty as charged.
