Did anyone here buy into the OB rare can club during the presale? Just wondering what the timeframe might be since they have not provided very much info.

I must have missed the presale announcement. You have a link?

The announcement was made at the can release for Rum Ten Fidy and Rum DbC. Those who were there could sign up to get the info via email and then be invited to sign up for the CANspiracy (the window closed this past Friday). I would assume it will depend on the number of people who signed up as to whether this initial round gets opened to a larger group. No detailed time frame has been given. I believe they said more information will come out about the releases next month.

I passed as the price was too high. It came out to around $2 an oz. I emailed them to double check I understood the pricing correctly and they confirmed it.

Passed as well. Not knowing the total volume that you'd get, or what beers it would be, combined with joining the Hardywood one the same week, made it an easy decision. Hopefully, it turns out great, but far too many unknowns at the start for me, at least.

Edit: I will say, we emailed to ask about the 'how much' question, and were told it'd be roughly 100 oz in some form. So that $2/oz that is mentioned above coincides with what we were told.

Totally agree. They said it was "comparably priced to other beer clubs" which doesn't seem to be the case with any of my other clubs. I usually am paying $1.1-$1.2 an oz. Plus those are from breweries who probably need the money more than OB. I guess they value the other perks(glassware, events) more than I do.

Didn't it include the ability to pre-buy allotments of the Barrel aged can releases at the end/during the year? Didn't seem so bad based on not having to wait in lines early etc. plus getting beers. I am finding that many of the newer clubs allow access to purchase allotments as a perk which carries some value for me. No defending this club one way or the other.......

It did say it guaranteed allotments of all their Barrel Aged can releases (including Java, Bourbon, Rum Fidy and Rum DBC) and an early pickup window for those cans.

OB doesn't have to look far to know this is complete BS. Cigar City's El Catador Club (Cigar City and OB are now under common ownership) charges $150 (plus taxes) for five (5) 750ml bottles of BA beer. That's 125 oz. for $150. Why would I want OB's 100oz for $200? The answer is: I don't.

I'll take it if primarily for the convenience of the 1050/DbC pickups and potential of extra allotments. If I'm burned, I'll learn my lesson and move on.

I guess CCB is using our email address for the other breweries. Never heard of the OB club until I just got an email and low and behold it arrived right after I paid for my ECC6 Club.

Has anyone that joined received an email about the first release? They said they would send information on 2/21, but so far I haven't received anything.

Makes me glad for SN keeping Alpha Hop Society so affordable. $250 for the first year for 12 750mL and $350 the second for 18 750mL. Plus shirts, glasses, quarterly events, and early access.

Is there not an Alpha Hops thread?

There is. I think @n2185 was inferring that Alpha Hops was a better deal than the OB Can Society... so still on topic for this thread.

I noticed that there were more. Just figured there would be 2 fewer in another release. Awesome news!
