So, I know I've asked this before, and the only answer I've pretty much gotten, is "because that's how its always been". So, will ask again.

Why can't we review or at least click "had" beers from breweries that are now closed? I've had a few beers recently from breweries, such as Three Palms Brewing, that I'd like to at least show that I've had for my 'collection'.

    Thanks for the input...

One of the main reasons given in the past is that previously people were using the rating/reviewing of beers from closed breweries to drive up the trade value on those beers (by inflating the ratings) which the majority of folks can no longer acquire. Also, I think I remember people suggesting that beers be reviewed fresh.

This was never a reason. The main, and only reason, is that the brewery is closed and all of its beers are no longer in production; time to move on. And we realize that this contradicts being able to rate retired beers from active brewers.

We may or may not revisit this in BA 4.0.

Thanks for explaining. I don't mind not being able to rate a beer, but wouldn't mind having the ability to show that I've had the various beers.

    Appreciate it!

I realize this isn't a vote or survey...but I'm going to voice my support for the idea as well. I could find Three Palms and Pretty Things bottles on the shelf for a few months after they each closed. And one of the big reasons I review is to keep track of the beers I've had - just for myself.

Thanks for the consideration for a new (or revised) feature!

Sorry if I misspoke but that is how it was explained to me a long time ago, before the old forums crash.

I am running into this problem with Ale Syndicate [Chicago, IL]. They released Richie Imperial Porter in November and Barrel Aged Richie in December. Even though both are fresh, they are not able to be reviewed because the brewery closed. A little delay in disabling the ability to review would be nice in this case along with other similar scenarios mentioned earlier...

Ale Syndicate beer are definitely still on shelves here in Chicago. I assume they'll just be phased out.

We might look into a review window for closed breweries with BA 4.0. In the meantime, I'm closing this down as the core policy isn't going to be changing.
