I wasn't diggin this one. Liberty Ale is so distinctive and Liberty "IPA" just felt like part of the crowd by comparison. (but it's just a first impression) Looking at their website, it seems like the regular Anchor IPA is gone. These stabs at capturing more of the IPA market just don't reflect well on the record of the company. I guess they're doing what they need to do.

Anchor posted a blog today on the difference between Liberty Ale & Liberty IPA. I'm still looking forward to trying this.

Why bother calling it Liberty IPA instead of something different?

Would love to see these two along with Double Liberty in a variety pack.

Agree, this was the wrong name for this beer. They should've just went with a distinct brand entirely.

This kind of gives the impression that somehow Liberty Ale is substandard in its current form. Long time fan of Liberty Pale - I don't necessarily see anything "broke" with it or needing improvement, frankly.

One more 'vote' that Anchor did some poor Marketing here with the confusing (duplication) beer naming.

    Cheers!

No way, you have to go look at a key to figure out that horrible system. At least Lagunitas is following a more standard method of dating.
