I rarely buy more than 2 of anything (usually only 1), I've never sold a beer for profit and I think I've only traded an IPA once.

I'm also in the burbs, so you city folk don't have to worry about me most of the time.

Just stopped by a usual go-to place for me while visiting my parents this weekend. The owner always hooks me up, and told me that he's getting TG February 1st. He told me that he wasn't 100% sure what he's getting yet - but thinks TG would want to make a big impression on their first go-around here, so he wouldn't be surprised if some bigger beers come through.

Never thought about that because I usually only have one in a sitting, but the highest according to Untappd is King Sue at 8.5. Most are below 7.

Yep. And not just their DIPAs. Gave a friend a bottle of Pompeii and that was his exact comment: "After drinking this I was shocked to see it was only 5.5%"

I've never once in my wished there were fewer hot dog, italian beef, or pizza places in my life.

It's definitely going to be awful to try and get these beers initially, but in some ways, we have that to thank for the fact that we're getting anything at all. The fact that rabid beer fans run rampant in Chicago is why Surly came back, why Shorts is here now, why we get our own variation of BCS, etc., etc.

I'll be as pissed as the next guy if I steadily miss out on TG when it lands here, but the fact that they're making Chicago a priority right now is because they know what a market they've got waiting for them.

Also, the reason there are so many hot dog/beef/pizza (let's throw in taco places as well!) places in Chicago is similar - If there were only a few, you'd have to line up outside of them all the time, anytime you had a craving (a la Pequod's). We Chicagoans love our "comfort food." :grinning:

Looks like some TGB will be possibly available this weekend at more than just the Field Museum.

Drinking a 7% pint ruins the rest of your evening?

In fairness, if I don't keep drinking, a beer or two makes me feel pretty shitty (which is why I won't have one on a weeknight until I'm close to going to bed). My alcohol tolerance is pretty high, but the combination of acid digestion that various things (including alcohol) give me + the fact that beer makes me tired = No fun.

Typically I like to drink beer on the weekends, and use it as the chaser for shots. BCS is a great chaser. :grinning:

These days, high alcohol beers really make me tired and lethargic. If I open a DIPA at the start of a movie, chances are good that I'll fall asleep on the couch before it's over. Don't know know whether to attribute it to getting old or if I'm just run down from chasing after my kids.

Ugh...I was really hoping this would be still a little ways away. I do not need to buy more beer now, but it will be tough to pass if I see any TG stuff I like.
