Doesn't Stone know you're supposed to be going to the East Coast to open a brewery?

What happened to Operation Arrogance: Europe?

The Company Stores are actually a pretty good idea. I would not be surprised to see this popping up all over the country.

I am not saying it's a bad idea, I am just curious as to why they didn't decide to open up a brewery to reach a different market? No need to be snarky.

yea, i hear ya. sorry for the snark. [insert cheers emoticon]

stone is ahead of the curve though in terms of running a successful craft brewery. they have done and will continue to do things that are hugely profitable before others in the industry catch on and emulate. they know exactly what they are doing with the various stone company stores and their iterations. i'm sure they've done the math on other brewery sites in the USA and have ruled it out for their own sound reasons.

Except make better beer. Other than the Best By, so many of their 1 offs, annis, verts, whatevers have been meh at best.

i've been pretty happy with most of stone's new beers over the past few years and there will always be a place in my fridge for the IRS.

I enjoyed Hwy 78 Scotch Ale and the Best By, other than that most of the new stuff has been meh.

The more brown than black IPA was also fantastic. Which I got to try the smoked porter with chipotle peppers. All the Arrogant bastards are delicious as well as old guardian and IRS. They are just a fantastic brewery pushing what a craft business can do.

Ruination 10th was good, even better than Best By.

It was good when it was super frosh, but had too much malt body and as the hops started to fade it became a mess.

I'd guess because the would be wise to start their expansion by going first to by far the biggest market around, while still be within decent driving range for their supply lines. After that the're free to move into whatever market they choose. But the'd be foolish not to go to such a huge neighboring city first.

The pasadena shop is open already? coool. a drive east is in order

Between this and the pasadena store I am really glad that Stone is paying attention to LA's craft beer "boom"

I remember Koch saying he was considering LA for Stone's location when it was first starting. Imagine how that would've been. Like them or not, it would have been even better for our local beer "scene"

    seems somewhat misquoted... http://www.foodgps.com/interview-steve-wagner-stone-brewing/

Can you see having a brewery in Los Angeles too?
I can see that. Maybe not a full-on huge production brewery, but as part of a restaurant or something we do up here, certainly. Some type of brewery, absolutely…We’ve got some ideas we’re working on. We’d like to increase our presence up here in Los Angeles, for sure.

Seems like its just something that COULD happen in the future. But who knows
