I got this in a beer shipment, and have been hanging on to the last 2 bottles, just wish I had access to it more often. Great Stout utilizing some smoked malt and exposed to oak chips, nice complexity. My next would be SN Coffee Stout, the reason most of us by the winter pack

I wish I had many ways of answering that question. Ditto for Duck Rabbit. I guess I'll have to "settle" for Kalamazoo. The number of beers distributed to NY are ridiculous, but Deschutes is the one big hole in my eyes. I'm thinking that will all eventually change with the Virginia brewery.

Interesting. I grew up in NorCal and caught Anchor and then Sierra Nevada as a young sprout in the early 1980s, yet, so far as I recall, I was unaware of New Albion until that revamped New Albion Ale came out a few years ago, a generation-plus after its time. Admittedly I was kind of distracted in high school, but still. I did enjoy the figgy goodness of the porters by Anchor and Samuel Smith back then, though.

Second this choice - an unabashed stout with no sweeteners or coffee that just shines. Bitter, dry and something to behold at 6.5% ABV.

Sierra Nevada Stout as well. Way underrated beer imo.

I never had any of Albion's brews myself, but do remember reading that Ken Grossman based his lineup on their's- Pale Ale, Porter, Stout. Whether there were recipe similarities I couldn't say.

If we're expanding to Porter's I have to throw Awake by Nightshift into the ring. Delightful beer.

While not a stout, I'll take Founders Porter any day.

Ipswich Oatmeal and Zumatra (7.0%) Stours are fantastic. Real local, but what I find to be one of the best stouts I've had this year, Armeno's Mustache from Cold Harbor Brewing.

If we are being very strict then my favs have already been mentioned several times: Sierra Nevada (Stout and Coffee Stout), Bell's Kalamazoo, and maybe Commodore by Ballast Point.

Many American Oatmeal Stouts more easily fall under the 7% ABV cut-off and I think there are several superlative examples that are fairly easy to get. AV Barney Flats is my absolute favorite, with New Holland The Poet and Ninkasi Oatis being other fantastic examples.
