Visited TH, Trillium, JA/Springdale, NS on Saturday. The unexpected highlights were 'fluffy' from NS and Permutations 4/5 from Trillium. Both of those beers were fully "caught up" with the pack of outstanding sours. 7, not so much.

To keep this on topic, Good'N'You was also very, very good.

Totally agree on Good n You. On first pass I definitely liked it more than Clerical Error.

How strict is the 21+ policy at Springdale? Planned on taking the wife and kids (13) to JA this weekend fir lunch. Would love to check out SD while there.

21+ only, took my 6 year old there Saturday to play the video games and had to leave. They said it'd fine if your just buying beer to go but there liquor license doesn't allow children. Jacks Beer Hall does have some of there beers on tap.

Hey @JacksAbbyBrewing and @springdalebeer, curious if Springdale offerings (growlers and/or cans) are available at Jack's Abby to go? I'm passing through on a Wednesday when JA's is open but Springdale is closed ... looking forward to grabbing beer from both though!

Additionally, anywhere to see an updated list of what's available from JA's? Website hasn't been updated since 12/20/16 ... and when looking through the forum, it seems it was at the urging of someone in this thread. Thanks!

Hey is that new Vienna lager you canned the same as the Vienna Keller that was on tap not long ago? Big fan of that one. Either way I'll be picking some up this weekend.

This Saxony Lager is niiiice. What makes it a Kellerbier?

Sorry if I missed this on the thread.

I see some Springdale available for growlers on the JA site. Can I use a JA growler and get SD beer?

I really don't need another growler in my house.

You can always deposit your JA growlers back. They are one of the few who does this, and it is a great thing.

They let you use them interchangeably, and I believe the new growlers will have logos of both brands.

Had the Springdale Pilsner at Bukowski's last night. It was one of the more cloudy and "thick" pilsners I'ver ever had and it was absolutely delicious.

The only thing I was confused about was that I thought the whole point of Springdale was to brew ales?

Well, it says it on the can. It's listed as a Vienna Lager on this site, but the can merely says Vienna style. That said, while I'm not an expert on Kellerbier by any means, Saxony doesn't seem to quite fit the description based off what I've read. So to answer your question, I don't know.

Style weirdness notwithstanding, Jack's seasonal lineup now appears to be Copper Legend, Red Tape, Saxony, and Sunny Ridge, or Octoberfest, Dunkle, Kellerbier, and Pilsner for those keeping score at home. Four excellent traditional(ish?) lagers, priced about around $10 for six packs of 16oz cans. Absolutely love it.

Hmm... which Buk's? We're confused too as that's not a thing we've made!

Huh, interesting. It was the one in the city in the parking garage. I looked at what's on tap now and my guess is that we had the Salad Days IPL since the review describes it as crackery and hazy. The IPL designation might explain why the bartender made the JA/Springdale mistake too. It was also very loud in there too though, so it's not impossible there was simply some sort of elaborate misunderstanding between us.

To be clear, it wasn't listed on the menu when we ordered it. My wife's first choice (and a few others) were out so the bartender just verbally suggested some similar things to choose from, so at worst it was probably just a short lived mix up about what was actually recently put on that tap.

Anyway, sorry for the drama. And I really did like whatever the hell it was we had, so I'm going to try and figure out for sure what it was.

Follow up on Saxony: possible style quirks aside, it is really damn good. It's also a great example of a brewery bringing out a new beer that diversifies the beer landscape rather than giving us yet another example of an already overrepresented style. I'm not sure there's anything quite like it available in this market, at this time. And it's cheap, available, and in a great format. Everyone go get some, particularly those of you who bemoan the lack of quality lagers on the market.

Agree 100%. Until last month I had no idea I loved Zwickle/Kellerbier. But with this and Night Shift's recent Zwickle this is a style I'm really hoping to see more of on the shelves.

    Especially at JA's prices.
