Uh O! A reaction videO!!! Beer tuber BEEF!! And this is the redicilousness that is our hobby...

    I'm not sure if I'll score it a 100 plus, or a 100 minus.

Haha! This annoys me more than it should. But, cmon; you already have a 100 point scale, do you really need to make it a 300 point scale?

The Beer Geek Nation channel is dedicated to slickly produced beer "review" shorts, that's it, they are entirely lacking. The fact that other youtube reviewers don't take him and his one sip reviews seriously is his own fault. Furthermore, he peddles some of the most egregiously overpriced online beer stores to his subscribers. He has admitted to tasting the beer off camera prior to recording, what's the point in that? Film a real review that doesn't feel more marketing based than actually reviewing the beer and I'm sure the community will respond appropriately (aka, send you beer). Otherwise, boo freakin hoo. If you no longer enjoy what you're doing, don't do it, no one is forcing you to do anything you don't want to.

I'll play devil's advocate here. I don't want to watch any beer review that goes much over 4 minutes. Just give me the skinny or nuts & bolts. I feel Chris keeps them short and sweet, and a solid summary is given. Whether he has a sip off camera or not, I really don't care. But that's just me. I can see how others would prefer more, as you do, and I get that.

I have noticed over the past 6 months or so (probably longer) that the passion doesn't seem to be there as it was during his earlier years. Going through the motions explains it best.

As for "If you no longer enjoy what you're doing, stop doing it." I totally agree. He has a wife & young children, as do I. Spend that 6 hours per weekend you're taking about producing and editing with them man. They grow up so fast and you can't get those years back. I promise he will not look back on his death bed thinking he should have given his channel more attention. He's not curing cancer here. As for doing it for "fans" I mean come on.... Im assuming none of those relationships are truly meaningful, but I could be wrong. I also understand that it's easy for me to say this as an outsider looking in, not knowing the guy personally.

I wish him the best regardless.

I would say this whole thing is pretty analogous to the craft beer scene as a whole in that it's become very crowded with these fairly recent startups (Darwin, Joe, Nathan etc, not the guy ranting about bgn because he's been posting videos for 4 years now and still has less than 1000 subs) that are whale hunting getting the hype and meanwhile Chris is the Stone (or Troegs if you want to use a local to him descriptor) where he's gotten to be a decent size channel and producing quality if not as interesting content on a consistent basis.

It can't be much. If I had to give a wild guess I'd say 10 grand a year.

10 grand a year!?!? I know some YouTube dudes make some dough but didn't think about that kind of money for beer reviews.

Just did a quick search and I don't know how reputable it is but social blade estimates under 3 grand a year.
