Not tragic, but smelly. The husband dropped a bomber of Voodoo Doughnut in the kitchen. The entire place smelled like fake smokey bacon and beer for about a week. Took a lot of scrubbing and moving of the fridge to make the smell die.

I recently broke my gallon growler.
Luckily it was empty at the time, and that is the reason it broke as well.

I bought two bottles of Better Half takeout from a bar. The bartender asked me twice if I needed a bag and I said no both times. It was just two 750s. On my way into my building, I was holding both beers (one in each hand) and used two fingers to open the door, dropping one of the bottles at the entrance to my building. Needless to say, I'll never deny a bag again.

Had 3 bottles of Cantillon in my bag 2 weeks ago and the bag tipped over and a LP Kriek smashed. I cried. First time every smashing a bottle. BTW--red stains.

Thats like posting a picture of a murder scene :slight_frown:

My worst beer drop was dropping something Stone I had just bought from Total Wine. It was a while back and I can't remember what it was now, but the bottom of my Total Wine bag broke and three beers fell out. One shattered, one started fizzing out of the cap and the other was okay.

The real worst tragedy I had though was watching the Lost Abbey Teku glass that my girlfriend bought me slide from my hand and shatter everywhere.

My worst near tragedy was that I opened a bottle of Cantillon Kriek 100% Lambic tonight and I thought it might be corked. When I popped the cap beer leaked out around the cork and it was all brown. The cork was wet so my corkscrew almost shredded it, but when I got it out it just foamed over a little bit then it was all good.

One time in college, my roommate dropped a full/brand new bottle of Yagermeister on the concrete floor of our dorm hallway and it the bottle so it wasn't completely broken, but was leaking everywhere. So he comes rushing in to the apartment, gets Yager all over the carpet, and gets it all over the kitchen looking for a bowl to get the remnants into.

So a dorm that smelled of Yager... with stained carpets... and sticky countertops and floor. And a bowl of Yager in the freezer that you had to drink by dipping a shot glass into it like freakin' Klingon Blood Wine.

Other than that, once I dropped an entire 6-pack that exploded into pieces (can't recall the brand, I think it was SNPA). Just grunted, drove to the corner store and bought another. Far from tragic.

GI Big John. It was the last bottle at Wegmans. I was putting the key in the apartment door when the bottom of the paper bag gave out. Fuckin trees.

I've also lost 4 or 5 snifters/tulips to the delicate dish washing practices of SWMBO.

I bought a 4-pack of Karmeliet Tripel for my boss, and the paper bag it was in disintegrated from condensation. All four bottles fell out and smashed on the floor of the garage in my apartment complex. I was picking up sticky shards of broken glass for about three weeks.

Similarly, two bottles of Stone Vanilla Smoked Porter fell out of my aging closet and smashed on the tile floor. There was broken glass and beer everywhere. There was beer on the walls and ceiling... I couldn't smell smoked beer or vanilla for about a month, without feeling ill.

Not great losses, but god-awful messes to clean up.

I've never broken a beer bottle, but I've broken more than my fair share of expensive bongs, does that count? I probably lost more per bong than I've ever spent on a single beer...

I hope you cleaned it up quickly. It looks like the beer was eating the pavement up.
