Yea, I understand that different types of beers are served at different temps. I just feel like this isn't cold enough to really enjoy. Sometimes it is almost room-temp. Almost cellar-temp, or just a tad colder.

No. I tend to like the saisons, barrel aged and fruity stuff at a higher temp and, IMO, their IPAs come out just about at the temperature I like them. I usually get tasters so I can see how maybe a full pour might warm up on you too much.

Yep - I feel like they always come out saison/BA temps. For a full pour, halfway through no longer cold. :slight_frown:

If anything, I like the sours and BA stuff to warm up over 5-10 minutes. They did a cherry beer that I was told was briefly aged in bourbon barrels that had to wait at least 10 for it to hit prime.

As for the IPAs, I rarely get full pours so I am not often having that issue. But I hear you, if I am killing off an entire can of DIPA (or growler), I'd probably want to start it out at around 40-45. Wouldn't be surprised to find the keg cold storage at Monkish is around 50.

Monkish is a pretty small place so I wouldn't be surprised if their cooling equipment is not sized properly for the amount of kegs/taps they got going.

I tend to like Monkish IPA/DIPAs not overly cold, I think it tends to mute the complexity and layers of flavors from these style beers. I usually let my growlers/cans from my regular fridge sit out at room temp for 15-20 minutes before I drink them.

    Cheers

They are usually so busy that I buy two pours cause I don't want to stand in that line twice. The second one is still at a good temp for me.

Smart man, hopefully soon the tap/growler line situation will be improved.

How many Double IPA's can a single brewery make? :astonished:

I'm having a Smarter than Spock can and it's too cold right out of the fridge. I'm going to sit on it for about 15 or so.

I'm drinking it right now. It's okay but definitely not my favorite. Door's Closed is tasting pretty good. I'm at Monkish, and it's pretty calm for a Saturday. Line hasn't been more than a few people

Same. Drinking a growler now and it's one of my least favorite ipas I've had from Monkish. Not a lot of individual flavor, more of a muddled guava bitter dank thing going on. Not bad just not on the normal Monkish level. Still better than Noble's Codependent, that beer had a weird artificial sweetness yeasty thing going on. Also got a couple growlers of Door's Closed which I am a bigger fan of. Super easy getting growlers yesterday.

Favorite from growler IPA only has been Gone Glorious. Hope that comes back or when they would repeat some of these.

Solid but not a must have. Motueka is best IMHO used as a blending hop, Citra and Galaxy play well with it, on its own it falls short. Doors Closed is very good, I'm just opening my second growler of Swan Ronson and over the last 10 days its really hitting a sweet spot, if you've got it, drink it.

    Cheers,
