Chicago Stout Releases (2018)

I asked at Hailstorm the other day if this was among the barrels stacked up. They said no, whole batch was bottled and kegged.

 

This is cross-posted from the NE IPA thread, but Forbidden Root's current on-tap stout, Keine Krümel, is really tasty. It's brewed with cacao nibs, toasted coconut, and pecans. Lots of vanilla and coconut on the finish. Definitely worth checking out for any one in the area.

 

The next question is, do they have a barrel aging program, and if so, would all those tasty flavors drop out or would it be delightfully enhanced by the subtle hammer of bourbon?

 

I think they (meaning brewers in general) add the adjuncts after barrel aging. So to ask if lumberjack breakfast is in the barrel is the wrong question. It's - do they have the base stout in the barrel and will they add the maple and coffee later.

I don't brew so could be wrong but I've read it enough that way on here.

Also - love that beer.

 

Yeah, I said basically the same to my girlfriend today. I think barrel-aging that beer would do pretty nice things to the beer.

 

I know I'm a bit behind on this, but does anyone know if Sump is still around/where it may be??

Anyone at 5 Rabbit? Wondering how long El Inigo lasts.

 

Inigo bottles sold out quick. Some people ended up getting shut out. You can still get it on draft at the moment though.

 

I was at LP binnys before lunch saturday and there was one left on the shelf after I took a bottle. Didn't get the impression there was more.

 

I got Sump from behind the counter at Bonny's St Charles on Friday night. Not sure if it's still there though

 

First 80 got 2pp then 1pp for the other 160 I'd say about 350 people showed up. It was great on draft

 

Good to hear 5 Rabbit making a strong showing, always good to hear a brewery is taking the next step with their beer.

 

I agree completely. Worth noting that I generally don't like smokey beers though. If you can get a single, go that route. Better yet, put that $ towards a WWS.

 

Looks like Sump is hitting some west burb stores today.. Standard Market and Admore posted on twitter.

 

Picked up Sump in the northern burbs at lunch today.
