    Damn you, Goose Island!

Why do you think I'm hedging my bets? By law, one of them has to end up aging better.

One of them is secretly Pear BCS but we need to keep it on the DL until the formal announcement.

I guess I just kind of wonder if it's still an advocate move to have a case of it. I was fortunate enough to be offered a 4-pack it at my local place, after deciding I wasn't going to pursue it and I'd be willing to get one more if I see it. After that, I'd let others go for it and let them have their own, rather than sharing with others at beer events and such.

It's a tricky question. With the explosion of people getting into craft beer and the relatively low bottle numbers of limited releases, is it 'right' to ever buy a limited bottle for trade? Much like time travel in movies, I choose not to worry about the correct answer.

Any suggestions for finding a 4-pack around Indian Head Park, Illinois?

Depends what they do with it? Finding a case worth around Chicago has not been an issue. Everyone I know that wanted some, got some. I had to eventually give myself a personal spending limit, because I still know a spot where I can go grab 2 more 4-packs. I know I sent some to trading partners in markets that don't get distro of it, and I share my stash with friends and family. Is that an ok solution of what to do with the 2 cases I got?

Sheesh, I'm new to the game and even I locked ONE down for myself. Developed a rapport with a guy at a wine shop, got to talking about the BCBS. Didn't even put my name on any list they may have had. He called today using my name on the Bolt Cutter list and asked if I wanted one. Score.
On another note, are they only out in regular sizes, or are there bombers out there? I didn't even ask what size I was getting. :stuck_out_tongue:

Perhaps the solution is go Walden style, reflect on a pond somewhere with nature and contemplate the availability of these bottles while enjoying aforementioned 4-packs.

It's a hard judgment because on one hand, I like the concept of the free market. If you see a case and there's no limit, you should be able to buy the case. However, I could see the unneccessary aspect of having that much beer of the same variety, when you could just leave the beer for others to get. Fortunately, there's sites like these that can let us discuss the nature of where those lines in the sand should be drawn.

2009 was the only year for Bombers.

All bottles this year are 12 oz. The only year they released bombers was the 2009 vintage, and they released both bombers and 12 oz bottles that year.

EDIT: Beat me by a second

Thanks....I'm not familiar with the area at all....a co-worker has family out that way that she'll be seeing soon and offered to have them look, and I didn't want to send someone I've never met off on a wild goose chase.

Well, beermenus still says 23.99 per four pack... not so when you get there. They are only selling individual bottles and at $6.99 a piece. The dude said he could only sell me one, but then came out of the back with two bottles and played it like he was doing me a favor.

I knew I should have stayed far away from that place.

With the understanding that it's early yet, it seems like there is a noticeable difference in the two variations my friends and I have seen/acquired based on the bottling dates of 2012 BCBS.

The 8/23 bottled version has a bit of a strange acidity compared to the 9/6 version, which tastes smoother and more well rounded. Has anyone else noticed this difference?*

*I'm not attempting to put down BCBS (or makers thereof) in any way, I'm just raising an observation (which could simply be the result of it being an outlier) for general discussion.
